My former father in law was a mechanic and i swear he fixed everyone else's car but his own. I watched him go through a string of $500 beaters that he would just replace when they needed repairs. 😂

In the video, it’s the negative terminal that’s corroded. Happens to both of them. As your battery ages it releases chemicals that cause corrosion. It can’t be avoided, but it can be cleaned up! Hope this helps

The red thingy is called a battery terminal brush and it turns in only 1 direction, not back & forth, you will be getting a new one soon. An yes your science experiment does work. But there's a better way: pour coca cola on it , clean the terminal with the brush and put a penny on the top of the battery, why? the penny conducts electricity better than the lead terminal and will attract the corrosion. Throw the penny away and place another one, no more cleaning terminals!! why would you not work on your car knowing mechanics are almost as corrupt as any plumber and most cops? I owned over 500 cars and I didn't trust anyone to do MY WORK!! Says a retired Master Goodwrench.....

We do our own work, it was simply a joke. After a long day of working on everyone else’s cars, it’s hard to get to the motivation to fix my own. My car gets neglected until I HAVE to fix it. Says a fellow Master technician.

Does it matter what year the penny is? Pennies since 1982 are zinc with 2.5% copper coating. 1944 and older are 95% copper. In between was a combination of different metals.
