Hey! Don’t worry about it. The only way to make it drop less would be to use your phone less, which defeats the purpose! If you’re in a hot environment, it’ll degrade faster. But you can always have Apple put in a new battery once it hits around 80%. Don’t worry about it! All batteries degrade over time.

Heyy can I ask u question! What do u think is the ideal range of charging? I’ve heard that the sweet spot is between 30 to 80% or similar to that and u shouldn’t be charging it to 100% , just take it till 80% and use it. Is this true
@Slimothy3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Great question. I actually just filmed an updated battery tips video yesterday (it won’t be up for a few days though, editing takes a while!). In it I mentioned this, so basically, if you want to be “ideal”, you will charge your phone in between 40% and 60%. Obviously, this is a huge burden and not worth the benefits for basically anyone. The next best thing is to keep your phone between 30-80 or 20-80. This still is difficult a lot of times. But it is better. The worst is letting your battery go down to below 20% and then charging it back up to 100%. That puts a decent amount of stress on the battery. If you do it everyday, your phone’s battery will slowly degrade. For me, I keep my phone topped up throughout the day. It’s also not “ideal” to keep your phone at 100% as that is a high state of stress for the battery, but hey, I want my phone to work and have juice when I need it. So I plug in anytime I drop below 90% honestly. I use it while plugged in. And I try not to let mine drop below 20% very often. Maybe once a month I’ll drain to 2% and then charge up to 100% just to “re calibrate” a little. So yeah, moral of the story is keep it above 20% most of the time and you should be just fine. But you paid good money for your phone so use it how you like. Batteries can always be replaced! Hope this helped. 👍🏻

hi ! I would like to ask. I heard that fast-charging charger doesnt good for Iphone. But Iphone 11 Pro Max comes with fast-charging charger. Should I change the charger ? or Does it damage the phone ?
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
That’s a great question. I personally do not use the fast charger on my iPhone 11 Pro everyday. I use an old iPhone charger (5W) small brick for my iPhone. I don’t think Apple would ship a charger that hurts the iPhone battery a lot, but from what we know, it is usually not wise to always fast charge a phone. If you upgrade every 2-3 years though to a new phone, it shouldn’t be an issue! Also, if it does hurt your battery after 2 years, I recommend just replacing your iPhone battery at the Apple store if you can’t afford a whole new iPhone!

Well, do you have an old iPhone charger from an iPhone you used to use? If so, you can use that one (overnight for example, if you charge overnight). But you’re exactly right. If you’re worried about keeping your battery in perfect condition as long as possible, using a slower charger will help because it produces less heat. Heat is the worst thing for batteries. I use a fast charger when I’m in a rush. And I use a slow 5W charger at night overnight when I charge since there is no rush then :)

I bought my iPhone 11 Pro in February and now my battery capacity is 91% I’m using the charger that came along with it which is the fast one I believe it harmed my iphone now it takes an hour and 30 mins to fully charge :( I followed all your tips in the video but I want to ask when should I charge my phone like should I wait until it’s less than 5%? I try to charge it once a day only is that bad? also I’m panicking bc I had my iPhone 7 for 3 years but this one is going down very fast in less than a year .
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
You’re probably just using this phone way more. It’s best to always keep the charge between 40-60%. But no one can feasibly do that so charge it whenever is convenient for you. I keep mine plugged in whenever I can just for convenience. Dropping below 20% and then charging up to 100 can cause strain on the battery so best not to do that everyday. I drop mine to 1-5% once a month to recalibrate it. That’s about it. Otherwise it’s usually above 40% for me.
@willwork2fish2614 жыл бұрын
So why not auto lock it at 30s? Since it will lock quicker instead of 4 or 5 mins longer? I had screen burn in my last phone (Android) I wanna avoid this as much as possible I hated it
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
It won’t happen on iPhone. I have seen hundreds of Android phones with burn in, and never 1 iPhone with burn in (in public). In general, the only way you’re gonna get burn in is if you’re on max brightness, on a STATIC image for 3+ hours a day, for over a week. That’s never going to happen for any normal iPhone user. Maybe display iPhones at Best Buy or Apple store. You can try the 30 second auto lock but it’s annoying AF. 4-5 mins shouldn’t hurt. I’ve used iPhone X for years now as my secondary phone and iPhone 11 Pro as my current phone since release. 0 burn in for me. If you do what I outlined in the video you will probably be fine. Also, iOS has built in software features to stop burn in. So you shouldn’t ever have that issue anyway. Burn-in CAN happen, but probably won’t. Like I said I’ve never seen anyone in public with an iPhone X or newer with burn in.

Thanks for these tips and your other informative videos. I have a question that I don't find much info on. How can I best prolong the *LIFE* of my battery. I know Apple has the new OPTIMIZE BATTERY CHARGING feature which limits max charging based on machine learning. But in the day to day, what is the best methodology for charing a phone so that you're not stressing the battery? I hear claims to only charge it when it hits 20%, load it up to 80%, and don't keep it charging while it is at 100%. Thoughts?
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking 40-60% at all times is the sweet spot. Unfortunately that’s nearly impossible. I let mine run down to around 30-40% and then I plug it in till it’s 100%. That usually happens between 1-8PM somewhere in there. Then from 8-midnight I use it as normal. Then overnight I plug it in and leave it plugged in overnight. My battery health is still 100% and I think this is a good way to do it. I turned off optimized charging. Not my thing. You can also get a smart outlet like I have. So overnight it turns off around 4AM once I know my phone is full. Then turns back on around 6 to make sure it’s topped off when I wake up. I’ll prolly make a video going over this soon.

@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's hard to find good information on it. But just remember that batteries are consumables and they do degrade with time even if you take perfect care of them. You can always get Apple to replace just the battery for around 50-60 bucks in most cases. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But yeah that is a good video idea I'll try to make that soon!
@goldendragon7764 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you so much. But may I know can I charge my phone overnight actually? Is it good for phone battery? And when we should start to charge our phone? Below 20% or whatever? Replace a new original battery for iPhone 11 pro max isn't cheap...
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
So I say you should charge whenever is convenient to you. Charging overnight will not hurt the battery much at all because Apple has built in a mechanism that stops it from overcharging. So it’s okay to leave it plugged in overnight. I charge my iPhone whenever I get a chance. So even if I’m at 80% I’ll plug it in so I’m ready for when I’m away from a charger. Once a month I let my battery go down to 5% ish and then charge completely up to 100% just to fully cycle the battery to make the % more accurate

I got my iphone 11 in September and my battery health is 88% already, i play pubg but thats like one cycle per day, i dont use my phone while its on charge and try to protect it from sunlight as well. Is it normal? Bcs im losing 1% each week since march.
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
Mahnoor Saleem it honestly just depends how much you’re charging your phone and how hot it’s getting. If you have a case on, plus PUBG, plus charging sometimes, it’ll wear it down. I used to play a lot of games like PUBG a few years ago and it would hurt my battery. Because you’re charging your phone an extra 1-2 times per day. But if that’s how you use your phone, just enjoy the phone and don’t worry about the battery until it starts to bother you (like if it can’t hold a charge)
@puptato85524 жыл бұрын
Hello, may I know how many percent does your battery drains overnight and in how many percent is the normal battery percent loss? I am eyeing to buy one this year but hearing some issues of battery from other users and considering how expensive the phone is I want to be careful.
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
If I have my phone at 100% and leave it overnight (screen locked) it’ll be at 100% when I wake up. iPhones have great battery life in this regard.

@@Slimothy thank you so much! I inherited a 7plus from my cousin and it drains a lot! That is very odd that your iPhone 7 Plus drains so much. Make sure the iOS software is on the latest firmware (13.6) and then once you’re sure of that, do a reboot of the phone. So fully turn it off. Wait 5 minutes. Then hold the power button to turn it back on (you’ll see the Apple logo). This will clear any corrupt cache files that could cause that problem. Hope this helps :)

My iphone xs one week in my hand my battery life is 98% Its normal ? And also i on the lower power mode its ok to open every day i use ?
@Slimothy4 жыл бұрын
Hey, that's normal. After 2 years you should be around 80% so in about 6 months you should check it again and see what it's at and extrapolate that data from there. Having for only 1 week doesn't really show too much. I don't use Low Power Mode ever hardly, but it won't hurt to use it. I paid a lot of money for my phone so I always want it running at max performance. Eventually your battery will wear out after 1-2 years and you'll want to replace the battery, so I say just use it how you like. Get the most enjoyment out of it, as batteries are consumables anyway.
