Battery Powered Fridge / Freezer with 12v, mains and Solar inputs, The Perfect Camping Accessory?

We love a bit of tech here, especially when we find something that really suits our 'Most Practical Vehicle' series.
I love everything about this THQ Alpicool TWW35 Fridge. It's prefect for a fridge / freezer in a Kombi, trips to the park, or the beach. Great to have in the back of the van for cold food and drink after a day out mountain biking etc.
Super rugged and durable, all controlled on the display or via bluetooth app. Built in bottle opener and chopping boards, extendable handle, this a just so well through out.
Enough battery for a day out or keep it running with a 12v or 240v connection. There is also the option of adding a solar panel to charge it.

I wonder if this fridge fits length ways in the SWB switch XL @120cm with 2 Frontrunner Wolf Pack Pro's stacked in front lengthways ? I've seen conflicting length measurements on the fridge some say 60cm some say 71cm. 71cm means that I wouldn't have enough room for a 51cm frontrunner Pro containers in the Ovano Switch. or even a euro box at 60cm. Hmm, I guess the fridge needs to vent as well. I'm planning a whole storage layout and this would help allot as space needs to be maximised in a T6.1 😃

I love this fridge. It is about the size of my old cooler, without Ice restocking, soggy wet food, draining and loss of space to hold the ice. - The Bluetooth app make it easy to monitor and set the fridge. - The dual zones are independently set. You can use either side as a fridge/freezer, or both fridge or both freezer, or even a single side off to conserver battery. - There is a battery protect level (H/M/L) which will limit how low the fridge will drain the car battery. When the battery option is installed, you will get longer run time using the L setting (cuttoff is at 9VDC). If you are connected to you barttery 12DVC on an outlet that is always on, you risk draining to the point you cannot kick the starter, so use of H setting will protect the Car Batt the most, but has the least running time. - When the compressor is idle, the power draw is about 2-3W. When it is running the draw is about 40-60W but could spike to 90W. - I use this fridge and internal battery with a Jackery Explorer 300 & 100W Solar panel when in camp. The combination charges the Explorer with pass through to the internal. The fridge is powered overnight until the sun comes out and chargers to full. Add some ice trays to the freezer section and you have a perprtual ice machine that only needs sun (and water).

The outer dimensions that Transporter HQ state are L600mm x W400mm x H440mm (exact length/Width size of a euro box) Do these measurements include the protruding wheels and handles? I need precise measurements to see if they will fit with my frontrunner containers in a tight space. I've seen amazon and other sites conflicting with measurements such as 71cmL. I would love some re assurance of the actual Width, Length and height including/excluding wheels and handle. PS. are the wheels and handle removable? Every little bit of space counts in a T6.1 ya know 😄

Can it work when the environment temp is>30°C Can it repaired? How does it work?(simple parts and wiring diagram) How long does it keep items frozen after disconnecting from power?

In Australia we have the same Fridge it is called a BRASS MONKEY $475 Aus dollars for the 35 L model , it also has a three year warranty 👍🏼

Hi. Speaking as a tradesman who uses cordless stuff all the time it would be really handy if you could provide extra batteries and a separate charger. That way you could charge multiple batteries before you leave on your trip. Cheers.

So if this is connected to the van 12v what sort of amp hours does it use compared with a crx50 for example. If it uses around the same amount this would be a much better option for a camper.

Hi there great video and i also have purchased a clone of this recently. What im asking is as you have specifically spoken about the battery which can be charged by solar is, has the fridge got some sort of controller to limit the voltage needed to charge the battery if solar is connected, i ask this because i have a battery on order and my fold up 200W solar panel has max open circuit voltage of 24V but does drop to a much lower voltage when limited sun is present. I know my Solar generator could charge the battery through the 5.5x2.1mm output and plugged directly into battery but my concern is through my solar panel plugged directly into fridge. Hope you can shed light on this. Rgards Steve

Have you looked at having a sliding lid, that is under the main lid, so you can keep one side at temperature, while fishing around in the other side?

Guys I bought one of these from you and it's brilliant. My only gripe is having to take the whole fridge unit out of the van to charge it on 240v. Where can I buy a charger for the removable battery? Awesome product but pointless having a removable battery if you can't charge it outside of the unit. Cheers

Hello. If you take the battery out, you will see a standard 12v charging point on the side. You mostly likely have one of these already at home somewhere. They are fairly standard. We have extra batteries and multi charging doc's coming on the next shipment too.

The one thing I can see could be enhanced, is the 12volt & the solar intakes should have a cover. To stop sand & dirt etc from getting clogged up in there.

There are similar without the battery, and with cheaper less efficient compressors. Not the LG version we order. The none battery version is way cheaper, but it always needs to be plugged in of course.

New Subscriber needing some advice Please! I just ordered a Vevor 12V, 53qt dual zone car fridge and a Acopower 100W 12V monocrystalline solar panel that will installed on top of our Suburban. That’s all the room on top cause of the roof cargo boxes. Using BLUETTI EB55 Portable Power Station 537Wh. Will this be enough solar for it keep up running that fridge?(nothing else). Should I add a narrow flexible solar panel (say 50watt) on one my cargo boxes? Problem is I hear nothing but bad about those. Thank for any insight or ideas!

It depends how long you want to run it or and how much power your solar makes with the weather conditions etc. This fridge has a battery built in. If you run the fridge on 12v into the BLUETTI it should last ages, especially being topped up with Solar.

Is it possible to strap it down in the van? It would be a serious projectile in a head on crash. Don't want to be a H & S nerd but I've seen the crash videos of motorhomes and they're not pretty. Otherwise looks really impressive. A good rival for the Aussie ones. 😃👍

We strap it down with a simple loop and pull strap kit designed for gas bottles or batteries etc. They are less than £5 on eBay

Its a standard DC connector. 8mm I think. You can get adaptors on amazon etc for any type of solar connector to this.

Unfortunately the documentation is non-existent. The internal battery does have what looks like a DC5521 receptacle. I would not use this with raw solar panel input as it must be regulated or limited to 12VDC. Solar panels may output too much for the internal battery to take on a full sun day. This is not an issue if the panel is attached to the fridge Solar input, as it limits the charge to the internal. I have seen other battery options (old version) that come with a power adapter to charge it outside of the fridge.

Having the mains and DC input at the bottom isnt a good idea; if wheeling around beach/field dirt could get in there and cause connection problems. Simple solution would be to supply some rubber plugs on rubber lanyard. And luckily there are OTS items for the IEC and DC inputs but obviously you have to adjust tooling/manufacture so depends if you have a warehouse full of them.

I should have bought the Alpicool!! I just bought this T50 six weeks and twice have had 3 dashes come up on the refrigerator screen. Ambient temperature this time 61, ambient temperature last time 75. There is nothing on the troubleshooting guide or manual about how to fix. Worse. They literally have NO customer service. The only way to get in touch is by email, and they do not respond. I advise people not to buy from this company.
