I do nearly the same exact process for making something. I have a part idea and just start with a rough design. Then I machine it and figure it out as I go. Great work!

This project reminds me so much of one I am doing or at least gathering parts to do right now!!! Long story short, I'm using a decent quality "Store Brand" 18 Volt cordless drill to power a portable drill press! ... I looked at those "Convert your pistol drill to a drill press" kits .. but they are not so great. SO plan to buy a use smaller bench type drill press, and convert it to cordless with the drill I have.

16:00 This new design is much superior, very good! ... As to the motor eventually going bad?? Think about it :) Milwaukee 12 volt tools are not as popular now .. If you keep your eyes open, I'd bet Credits to Navy Beans, you'll find a replacement spare 12 volt drill long before you need one! :)

Is it possible to make a decent power scraper from a cheap sawsal?

I would think it easier to make a worm drive for speed reduction plus torque multiplication?
@VanoverMachineAndRepair9 ай бұрын
Yeah probably

Just use a 12 volt windscreen wiper motor with the integral worm drive gearbox and power it via a PWM speed controller
@1crazypj9 ай бұрын
@@howardosborne8647That's a very good idea but would probably need purchase instead of using what he already has. I have a couple of old battery drills from pre-Lithium battery days but don't have any windscreen wiper motors so would use an old drill motor.

Kyle, I think you’re giving Abom a run for his money. I love your videos, very well edited. In particular, you’re not wasting time dwelling on long operations. I started down this same route until I came across a machinist selling an old diamond plate lapping machine called a K.K. Calamar. I just showcased it a couple videos ago here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poOvaWh-dsuojKssi=IN-oyKK-jApmYBKR
