Hey John. We have been using two 15" subs instead of an 18" for years now. I'm about your age and my back is very grateful. You won't get quite the "Boom" factor with two 15's, but they are a heck of a lot easier to manage. I've never tried running them off a battery though.

Thanks John, If we had the cash we could give each sub and each top its own inverter. It looks like the Ryobi 300 Watt pure sine wave inverter would be great for the outdoor cocktail hour. Have a great weekend.

I now run two 15 inch subs. Years ago that was my setup back in the days of passive speakers. For me the key is to get more thump than I would with just two tops. And yes a 300 watt inverter is too small for most DJ speakers. I have a 600watt and a 1000watt inverter that I am going to test out off of a 12 volt battery. I have both 3 agm batteries and I just purchased a 50 amp lithium battery. It's almost summer so I am sure that I will use this stuff right thru the Fall tailgate season. Perhaps up until November.

Do you think this could power a Sennheiser XSW2 835 Wireless Handheld Vocal Microphone for about an hour? Or would it be safer getting a more high end battery such as a jackery?

Hi Trey, Your wireless would work all night and then some however rather than using an inverter I would look into running the receiver directly on a 12 volt DC battery pack with the right size barrel connector and polarity.
