Battery Replacement 2013-2019 Ford Escape

Here is an easy way to change the battery without removing the wipes and the plastic cover. Just be very careful when removing the positive cable not to touch anything.

I don’t get it. My 09 Charger had big battery sitting right next to the spare tire under rear carpet. Easy peasy and clean.

The proper procedure on that vehicle is to disconnect the negative battery cable first, at the stud near the fender and remove the short cable still attached to the battery. Then it is a simple procedure to reinstall the battery management system sensor on to the new battery and install it as an assembly. Then after reconnecting the positive cable you simply rebolt the tag end of the negative cable to the fender

i just changed the battery out of a 2017 ford escape. i tell u, taking the air box out and move the clips and take the plate off was better then taking the wiper blades, panels and bottom panels out to diagonal the battery out.😊

It’s nice to see how hard the desk jockey engineers work to make these vehicles stupid difficult to work on. This part WILL fail ever 3 to 5 years over the life of a vehicle especially since the electrical demands on it are higher than ever. The stupidity of this is beyond absurd.

It easier and faster to remove the wiper cowl takes me 20 minutes pulling breather box os way more time consuming on this job

No simple maintenance anymore. Instead of putting it under the cowl, the backseat or trunk may have been a better choice.

I don’t feel comfortable connecting negative, then positive. Too many electronic components it could zap. There has to be a better way.

Ridiculous! On my old ford I can swap out the battery in under 30 seconds. The alternative method for these models is to work from the top, removing everything, like the windshield wipers and panels...

It does no good to criticize the manufacturer at this point. Just be glad someone has posted a video to help us know how to replace the battery....because I have to go do this to my daughter's car this evening.

There's a lug on the firewall to the right of the battery next to the fuse box to connect the negative jumper cable to. The positive is in front as you can see in the video.

Jumping it is easy, there is a ground strap right beside the battery and the positive terminal is easily accessed. Having to remote the air box to actually replace the battery is fucking retarded though.
