Well said Rene, policy is blind to the exciting changes underway. It is so strong.

30:00 We don't need these old powerplants, we need battery power plants to replace them ASAP.

@14min it's unusual to move towards shorter duration (1hour -> half hour) , other markets like Australia are moving from 1 hour to 2, 4, 8 hours

25:00 Dynamic tariffs are coming in Germany, but they are not what we want/need. We need battery power plants, in order to make the grid much, much larger, much much more robust without expanding cables...

18:00 wait, so the battery operators pay grid fees proportional to their off-taking for anything they "consume" from the grid, even if they later put that energy back during peak load? So they are paying fees for helping the grid?

The rest of the interview went into all the details I was wondering about this, so thanks again!

Great info! Focus on local balanced grids. Maybe government should be involved in the permit-fase, where you can only get a high level grid connection if you contribute to the local cycle of poduction and consumption.

Some good insights but the comment about building more nuclear makes no sense in the context of the transition to renewables and battery storage. Nuclear is grotesquely expense - look at the price the public will pay for energy from Hinckley C - daylight robbery. Invest the money in retrofitting the U.K.’s 30 million homes to EnerPhit energy efficiency standards and cut annual electricity consumption by 200 billion kWh a year.

Also nuclear doesn't load follow so it doesn't create as much value per MWh

SMR have a low LCOE and are far more stable then Hydrogen at the moment. They might solve local heavy energy more easy because they also generate a lot of heat. The technology is know for 50 years now. Tried, tested and under great scrutiny. The demands fo isntalling a big one are so ridiculous. That makes them even more expensive. France prices for nuclear are somewhat the same as for wind or even cheaper.

Luckily the guest shut him down right away with nuclear waste. Has he dug a hole in his garden to receive his portion of waste to take care of?

Co-location assets on a regional or local level appears to be the way forward and circumvent the political and commercial giants who are squeezing the energy market.
@PeterBakker2 ай бұрын
I hope co-locations also will work for local areas and not only for generators. Congestioon is all about local production in my view

@@PeterBakker I agree 100% but their voices to date have not been heard. Whether we need to speak louder, or have those in authority listen to the merits of our case.

In Ireland, that's illegal. A battery and solar farm are not allowed to share a grid connection at less than the sum of their max capacity
