Exactly where I’m at right now. E320 2004 and both batteries were charged and tested good. So I’m thinking alternator and gen with fuse that attaches to the alternator. I seen them at autozone for 125$… maybe he was talking about the dealership fees.. I’m going to do it myself lol save 800 at least. That motivates me lol

Broken belt can cause the light to ON. I just changed the belt..its okay now. I have changed the auxillary or smaller battery before (5 yrs ago). That also solved the problems.

if it is the alternator you can buy the brush set/voltage regulator not hard to do yourself cost $30 if the car is old chances are it needs the brushes replaced if the bearing isnt noisy in the alternator most likely that's all you need

What is in my w203 C-Class kompressor was in perfect health and I read the car a couple of times messing but since it's light came on I have been driving the car for 3 days after the fact and the battery has not been drained or I have no trouble starting or listening to radio anything in turn caused by is it possible to just accidentally cause this light to trick on without actual is it possible that if I took the terminals of the battery for a half an hour are so that it might fix the problem

I have a 2012 mercedes glk350 4matic. 4 months ago my battery died. I work at auto zone and used our in house battery analyzer and it confirmed my battery was dead. I replaced the battery and retested the entire system and it said that my charging system was bad as well. I replaced the alternator. And the analyzer still states it has a bed charging system. But the car has been running fine up until yesterday. The red battery indicator came on again? I retested the system and it indicated a bed charging system again? Are there any other components that would cause this problem?

There is another place that will give you this message. At least on my SL55. There is a "fuse link" under the passenger side foot well. That pops rarely but if it does it will give you this light. Somewhat of a PITA to swap out. Be careful NOT to drop the nylox nut wen taking out the leads or the fuse! It will fall between a space you cannot access!

That's what I'm looking after, too, since I have already changed the battery (now brand new) and the alternator seems to charge the battery OK. After start, charge current quickly comes down from some tens of amps to just a few amps and voltage is around 14 volts at battery. The red light "alternator or battery" comes up some 10 seconds after start while engine is running and amps measurement on battery shows OK charging.

Update: it was my auxililiary. Moral of the story. Don't buy a battery on eBay without checking the ampage. I put a 10 amp instead of 12. Anyways, I'm buying the Exide EK131, better than the original.

? I found out that sometimes after everything checks out the module that programs the car needs to be reprogrammed to tell Mercedes’ control needs to tell it batteries swapped and are ok. My question. Is the amazon type code readers capable of doing this ???

When i hook the multimeter up to the battery i get 12.59 when i start the car i get 12.19 but as i said new alternator and regulator obviously because it came with it. The new battery is perfect. I have put in 3 different alternators now with warranty swaps.

If it’s the alternator it may just need to have e the voltage regulator replaced; the Bosch regulator is available at EBay starting at $49. There are KZbin videos on how to do it.

If you're battery front battery is not charging it could be two things one your alternator and two your F40 fuze which is located on the passenger side behind the glove box it's in that glove box area same thing happened to my car

Replaced trunk battery, six battery, and brand new alternator unit with new voltage regulator, serpentine belt and idler pulley after car burned out on road. Battery symbol still on dash but not smoke or other symptoms, so I am still on the hunt for the issue. if someone charges you 800 you need to run . alternator replacement should be around 350 if you are hands on for $180 you can do it yourself pretty easy . @@FusionKidd

@@FusionKidd Thx bud. Truly though it's an EASY job to replace the alt. It's like a couple bolts and no equipment needed other than the socket wrench. Nothing will get done if we don't try. One of the easiest jobs on any car and I ain't kiddin. You relax the serp belt and unbolt the alt. Plug and play!! God Bless you friend
