Yes, the valves can be removed for verifying the level, and to check with a hydrometer.

I live in Ohio and was wondering what keeps the water in the water lines from freezing up over the winter? I already installed this system on brand new batteries. Now I'm concerned it will freeze?

Sounds good, but can you take hydrometer reading without removing all the caps?

How do i check if one of the valves is leaking since you cannot really see inside the battery? I always worry that the electrolyte spill out in this case..

You have to pry open the vent cover of each battery and visually determine if each of the cell/s in your batteries are showing the propler level of water. I have the Trojan Hydrolink system connected to my batteries for over 3 years and it seemed to work well until the past couple of months. This week i physically opened each batter cell cover and discovered that one cell in one battery and 2 cells in another had water levels that were way too low. All other cells were at proper water levels. I have no idea why this happened but i am thinking i may remove Hydrolink and return to my old water bottle.. With how expensive golf cart batteries are i cant afford to rely on a system like HYdrolink if it doesnt work. That system has a plastic bubble on each battery which shows as either a black or white color. That is how you are supposed to know when you need water. None of my plastic bubbles have ever shown any color but BLACK...doesnt need water. So if you cant rely on that bubble the Hydrolink system is worthless.

At 6 1/2 years my Polaris EV with US Battery US-12V-XC2 batteries (8 of them) has begun to show the need for battery replacement. Flow-Rite, the manufacturer of the watering kit I am using says the kit needs to be replaced with the batteries. What say you?

Make a close inspection of the hoses and valves. I would recommend replacing the 1/4” hose, but if the valves aren’t cracked or leaking, reuse them! TIP; use a hair dryer or heat gun to ease replacement of the hoses.

The number of cells in a pack can very by the voltage of your batteries as well as number of batteries you have. If you are using a U.S. Battery flooded lead acid battery all of the cells are on the top of the battery, as shown in the video.
