Im gonna tell you why you lost to him: He simply had a better thrust/weight ratio. The regular dragon jet is pretty heavy, while the bigger one that I forgot the name of (because i dont have the DLC) is very light for its thrust. I belive that 3 dragon jets are just as powerful as the other one, while it being as light as 2 dragon jets,while having the thrust of 3. Also, the canards also did help him a lot to use his acceleration to to his full potential.
