Battle Arena Toshinden 3 for PlayStation is a 3D weapons-based fighting game and sequel of Battle Arena Toshinden 2.
Toshinden 3 is the first of the main series not to be ported to other platforms. It is also the only game in the series that has game play differences between the Japanese version and subsequent US and European releases.
Whereas Toshinden 2 was largely built upon the first game, Toshinden 3 radically changes the series' gameplay. Most notably the arenas are now enclosed, allowing players to launch opponents into the walls and ceilings in order to juggle them with further attacks. The combo system has also been reworked, with every character possessing a preset list of combos.
As well as the 14 starting fighters, the game also adds a huge 18 unlockable fighters bringing the total to 32, though most of them are largely mirror images of the original 14's fighting styles.
Toshinden 3's Arcade Mode is much different from the previous two. The opponents that the player faces from within the game depends on their selected character. If a player chooses one of the 14 starting fighters or "Heroes", the computer-controlled opponents will eventually be Organization members while choosing an Organization member will have the player facing off against the "Heroes" themselves. Nagisa and Vermillion serve as the first bosses to their opponents' sides while the playing character's sub-boss appears next. After that, Sho arrives as the third boss (doubling as the final boss for any Organization member) and once he's defeated, the player will then face off against the Organization leader Abel, who serves as the "final" boss of the game.

hijong park 3 is light years better, than 1 or 2. 1 is a Virtua Fighter Clone, with its own style, but by 3, it was t the same game, as far as graphics and gameplay.

The lady with the off-shoulder kimono was one of my favorite characters along with her Catwoman counterpart. I remember every main character had a counterpart with an almost exact fighting style, even down to some of the button combos.

I love this game as a kid. I had part one and part 3. I overly played it and I would ALWAYS pick "VEIL". I played so much, I knew all the combos. "SAY YOUR PRAYERS!!!" "ON YOUR KNEES!!!!" Those catchphrases are forever embedded in my head.

When I just stumbled across this intro I could remember EVERY DETAIL - this intro and the game itself were just outstanding and a great game for that time. Never mind Taki's fully animated Chesticular motions almost poking out of the TV. Noooooo that's not nudity, She's wearing a skintight red ninja-suit, you see. And those _Aren't_ her nipples! That's just artifacts of the TV's scan-lines.

@@FMZ101 Odd as it sounds, wouldn't surprise me. It was around 2010 that I was shocked to find Final Fantasy 8 had an original PC release at around the turn of the millennium (not to mention FF7's PC release in '98). Since then I found lots of random Playstation games had PC ports (and the other way around[1]) way back in the day. [1] If you've ever played the original Command & Conquer or Red Alert on DOS or Windows 95/98.... They both had Playstation ports in the 90's that were Very Playable. 3D Realms' Duke Nukem 3D is another good example.

I love the way this game put faction against faction. Instead of people fighting their own allies for no reason. You had one group that was clearly against the other and the game play reflected that. It was one of the underappreciated aspects I feel. But then again I've only ever met one person that's played the game.

They should bring back the same characters from the first two toshinden games such as Eiji, Kayin, Sofia, Rungo, Fo, Mondo, Duke, Ellis, Gaia, Sho, Tracy and Chaos and bring it bang up to date and make it similar to Soul Calibur 6.

This franchise has cool character designs and some of the best video game music ever, only thing is needed was good gameplay :( The gameboy version is awesome and underrated because it has good gameplay and music with only 2 buttons for attacks so it's simplified compared to the 3D games

This series must return for PS4 in HD Collection with a lot of changes but some things need to be the same, see pentelho111 Toshinden videos :D This series was fallen because of Tekken and Soul Calibur but i like BAT games more " Have better characters and better story and i like the gameplay" :D Toshinden 1 - Very Good :) Toshinden Remix - Very Good :) Toshinden 2 - Very Good :) Toshinden URA - Good :) Toshinden 3 - Awesome :D Toshinden 4 - Worst :( Toshinden 4 ruin the BAT series because of Bad Gameplay but i like (characters, moves, abilities, and soundtracks but the music on 4 was not so good like the prequels) and Tekken and Soul Calibur killed Toshinden games series because of this bad moment :(
