cynthia is nowhere near as hard as people meme her to be, kids are just abysmal at building teams. wow a box legend, a level 70 starter, an underlevelled staraptor and three other random underlevelled pokemon die to her team? truly unexpected! (this is all for the remake, as obviously fairies don't exist in the DS games:) her garchomp dies easily to even badly invested game progression EVs clef w/ specs (which you should probably use if youre even slightly smart) who can survive the earthquake no matter what and her spiritomb nearly dies to uninvested no item clef (and she's in the Sinnoh dex in D/P!) Lvl 62 0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0 SpD Spiritomb: 116-138 (75.8 - 90.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Lvl 62 152 SpA Choice Specs Clefable Moonblast vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 242-288 (107.5 - 128%) -- guaranteed OHKO or if you get megas (and the platinum dex) then its ggwp: Lvl 62 252 SpA Pixilate Gardevoir-Mega Hyper Voice vs. Lvl 62 0 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp-Mega: 270-320 (120 - 142.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO maybe if ppl actually planned teams instead of using their Route 1 team for the entire game they wouldnt get swept

I actually skipped Gen 4, so I thought fighting Alder with his level jump was scary for me on Gen V... then I found out by accident the villa where she was in... and I was so confident that I can defeat her so i challenged her... and was summarily defeated... by just her Milotic... I did not even met her Garchomp. She is the sole reason why I changed my team composition to cover more pokemon types and to over-level every single member of my team, even if I do not play competitively.
