after watching many set boxes opened when this set first came out, i opted for draft boxes. the lands seemed to be more plentiful there.

I have the same theory for cards in DMU that don’t have more than one or a borderless variation. Seems Timeless Lotus, Weatherlight, and Liliana are more populous in draft packs.

@@John_the_baptized I can't speak to the draft boxes of DMU but I got 6 set boxes. I got 2? maybe 3 Lili's.. I forget. 0 Sheoldred. ZERO. I was not amused.

Thanks, WCMTG for dropping that disclaimer about CLB not being a bad set to make sure you don't hurt my feelings. 😉 1: it's funny to me that Bolt from this set only is under $1 2: a few of the gates are over $1 3: Kenku Artificer makes clue tokens into 3/3 flyers. Wild 😂

LOL! You know I actually like the set as well because I’ve told you as much. 😂 Won’t be long before I’m turning to you for opinions on this set as the subject matter expert. Funny I almost pointed out the “Lightning Bolt at Common” level as something that gets super overlooked.

As far as "set booster" packs go, I opened up a Bundle Box today and it was literally STACKED with some great cards. I know 1 box won't set the tone, but overall it was some really really solid Set Booster packs. Haven't pulled the trigger for full set or draft boxes though

Congrats on the sweet bundle box! I really wanted to like the Set boxes from this set but I have opened a bunch and have found them to be wildly inconsistent. My preferred experience has been with the draft boxes or collector boxes.

Yah I watched a handful of your videos and some others and it seems to be that the set boosters are lackluster or just complete trash when compared to the draft or collector boxes. That being said, I just ordered a draft booster box, and some clearances/discounted single packs.

My box was pretty bad as well back in August. I think the biggest issue is something I've seen others point out which is this was hyped up as the next Commander Legends set so stores went all in. What they failed to tell stores was they put all their effort into double masters which had some amazing reprints from past commander sets. It also doesn't help that every standard set also contains a number of new commander cards in them.

No disagreement. The “Commander Legends” name being attached to the product gave people a raised level of expectations as opposed to just being called “Dungeons and Dragons: Battle for Baldur’s Gate.” It’s a shame that the set now has that stigma because I actually like the set and there are some really good cards in it. The collation of the Set boxes is kind of a dumpster fire also but the set is actually much better than it gets credit for. Now that the pricing has adjusted downward to a much more reasonable price point, I like the set long term.

Start with looking at the “Sealed” section on MTG Stocks website. At a glance this will give you ball park pricing on collector, draft, and set boxes for all the various sets so you can start narrowing down what products you want to price stalk. After that I’ll look at pricing on TCG, eBay, and my LGS’s. If pricing is competitive at my LGS’s then I’d rather give them the business. But I’ll generally do price checks 1-2 a week just to see how the market is moving on sealed product and look for opportunities.

Yeah, this seems about right. Man they screwed up so hard with the lands. Even if they are way down, it's rough to open multiple set boxes and pull no lands....or Dragons. At least Minsc & Boo becoming a thing really helped this set to have *some* extra value. The list saved two of my boxes from being total garbage fire and upped it to simple Poundtown.

The set is better than people think. It has a horrible reputation because the initial price was so high, it’s called “commander legends,” and they inexplicably reduced the number of packs. The set booster boxes are awful. Draft boxes are very solid though.
