Even in classic time control games the top GMs seem less apprehensive to explore the openings once thought long out-of-fashion for top level chess. There is a real maverick approach to chess since the engines opened up new vistas. Back in the day, if you played against Korchnoi as black, you could almost count on seeing either 1.d4 or 1.c4. All that old orthodoxy of contain and control within a limited repertoire is now itself out-of-fashion. So we see the top GMs today happily playing the once thought notoriously passive openings for white like the Vienna or Ponziani and turning them into more regular than surprise weapons.

How lucky we are to have the greatest player of all time showing us so coolly and smartly, with such assurance and speed, the errors of a world champion and other top players, the best moves that should have been played, and what would have happened if only those players had his brainpower. And such modesty too. Makes it look so easy, but then, genius simplifies where others are confounded by needless complications, hopelessly lost in a labyrinth he has serenely mastered.. Hats off to Agadmator, this channel shows all who is the true king of chess. Why wouldn't Re7 work in that position? You offer a knight trade, and if the white rook moves to h8, then you take on c7 and prevent Re8 checkmate. If the white knight moves to d5, then Re4 check followed by Kf2, and your knight is out of immediate danger. I'm sure there is a crushing move for white somewhere, but I cant see it.

After you move rook to e7, white plays knight d5, after that it’s basically forced mate because whites rook on the h file will give a check regardless of blacks next move and force blacks king to b8, then regardless of black move, knight takes b6 and checkmate is unstoppable
