I’m still processing this finale, but so far I think it was a beautiful conclusion. The reintegration of the JSA and LOSH. Superman being the metaversal constant of hope. Manhattan “saving” the Watchmen world, and creating a “Clark” with his abilities to continue his legacy following his lessons meeting Supes. So good

I am amazed at how satisfying this ending was. There were so many elements left hanging and almost forgotten in previous issues that I thought Johns had been forced by editorial to abandon them. But no! They all played off here. Holy shit.

Where Watchmen thematically effected DC comics through the rise of adult oriented more mature and violent story telling Superman literally effects the watchmen universe by introducing a new more hopefully character because he can effect every universe. That's because DC comics and in fact all superhero comics sprout from him including marvel (that's why we get that tease) and of course Charlton which was the inspiration for Watchmen. Wtf mind blown.

Yes..no...maybe?? Honestly it feels like it should be canon. My only guess is that right before the 2020 crisis (likely the Perpetua stuff), we'll see some mentions, Bendis HAS to refer to Ma and Pa Kent eventually (since Clark outed himself), Batman will have to eventually wear the suit that's in Doomsday Clock and 3 Jokers.

So glad the JSA, the Legion and Ma and Pa Kent have finally been restored (among all the other great things about this conclusion), I'm not counting on the rest of DC handling this new status quo satisfyingly enough when they're caught up, but I'm still interested to see where things will go from here...

Sort of. While yea, it looks like probably the bulk of the Pre-Flashpoint stuff is back, there are stuff from New 52 (the bulk of the Post-Flashpoint gets its own Earth where it goes on as if Rebirth never happened) that exists still (New 52 Batman, GL, Aquaman, JL, and some Superman stuff)

I don't think you were, personally I'm mixed. While I can welcome their return as I did the return of the trunks last year, I don't really think Clark needs them anymore (although with everything going on under Bendis, maybe he does). He's learned so much from his parents and can now pass those lessons on to his own family.

You are not the only one. I'm too prefer that Ma and Pa Kent stay alive. Not every super hero needs to be orphan or have their parents dead and I think the couple serves as great mentors for Superman even after he had become the great hero that he is, helping in the moments where is in doubt or dealing with a dillema, showcasing that even Superman still learning things from them, which is a great lesson, that no matter how young or older the person gets, it never stops to learn new things and evolve. PS: While I liked that Pa and Ma Kent stayed alive in the end, I'm not a big fan of Superman as Superboy. I prefer something more like the John Byrne's vesion or the Birthright, in which he becomes the hero when he's a grown up. Not to mention, if Superman was Superboy in his childhood, then should be easy for people to figure out his identity, since when Superboy became Superman, he would have arrived in Metropolis at the same time as Clark Kent, both coming from Smallville.

I reread all 11 issues before this one and I really enjoyed the entire series. I'd put it in my top 10 DC events. A couple of things annoyed me though- Reggieschache breaking into Wayne manor so easily and then finding the Batcave so easily too seemed dumb to me. Ozymandias doing it, I could accept but Reggie was just the son of a psychologist who had been taught to fight by Mothman... and that was about the extend of his abilities. The final issue Lex shows up with his vibrational gun and send Comedian back to his dimension. Why not anybody else? and how did he know where to find them? Manhattan had just teleported them all away from everyone but Luthor knew exactly where they would be? Mime's invisible guns are cool and all but Dr Manhattan was supposed to be the only super powered being in the Watchmen universe so how did Mime get these invisible weapons? I preferred the idea that Mime just thought he had weapons. It made the scene where they're escaping prison but won't leave without his guns so much better. I know these gripes are quite petty but still...

Now I really have no idea how to place this in relation to current DC titles. If it takes place in the near future then I guess Alfred isn't dead after all, Lex and Lexcorp are going to go back to normal, and Superman revealing his secret identity had no serious effect since he can go out with Lois to meet Ma and Pa and nobody notices? But if it takes place in the recent past then why was there never any mention of the Superman Theory in any title, why didn't anyone remember the JSA when they showed up in JUSTICE LEAGUE, and why was Superman completely not surprised to meet yet _another_ Legion when they showed up to bring Jon Kent to the 31st century? ARGH.

I guess I'm in the minority but I didn't like the ending. I get the idea but it just feels like Johns is waving his fist saying Superman is hope and we need hope cuz our books are all so cynical and he just shuffles all the watchmen stuff he built up under the rug with a deus ex machina from Mahatten. And the future of the DC universe stuff doesn't really hype me up it just fills like a cheap ad for events that are gonna make fans bitch when they happen
