I wouldn't call the mc a psychopath. He's just a guy who acts rather than whines. We are supposed to relate to the whiny main characters but honestly not everyone whines in a situation. Many will also jump into action. I get that whiners are slowly becoming more capable and confident but it can be frustrating to watch.

I’m getting the feeling the mc has a darker side no one may see coming. The type of vibe of someone smart enough, in a game of life and death, where they eventually “Behead the puppet master”. Sometimes the ones who control strings don’t realize they are being played too. The whole genre of a game of wits and death has been done before in anime and other films. Though I haven’t seen a main character so confident to be feared. It’s always the “innocent ones” you have to watch out for. It’s a common “twist” done before. The question is, how will it be executed? It’s going to be interesting.
