Tremendous episode! Codie is one of my favorites and Matt did a great job interweaving Mike and Roseanne with so many micro stories involving the town, the citizens, and the troops.

I love the anniversary episodes, I always look forward to them. This one is particularly good due to adding the civilian accounts. Great job Matt!

This day-by-day retelling of the battle coinciding with the 160th is absolutely thrilling to me… I guess I’m a Gettysnerd now.😅

Great episode as always!!! But who ever coughed at 2 hours and 1 min in, scared the sh!t out of me! I was mowing my lawn and wearing a headset and my god did that catch me off guard! I am assuming it’s Six Questions Lentz!

At 56:48 Ah, yes! That moment George Burns made an appearance at Gettysburg lol. Dunno why that made me laugh out loud, but picturing him there, cigar in hand, making wise cracks left me laughing.

On Day 3-Lee's orders were to take Cemetery Hill- the Confederates didn't do it. That combined with 50% of Pettigrew's/Trimble's Divisions running away, back into Seminary Woods, instead of attacking along with Pickett's brave men- NONE of which ran away- cost the Confederates victory on Day 3. It wasn't because of Lee's plan- it was sound- his men (and artillery fuses) let him down. That is, EXCEPT for Pickett's men who were the bravest men at Gettysburg.

Sounds almost mythical. Perfect Lee. Not a single human among Pickett’s men who gave in to nerves. Remarkable! Amazing that they lost the war with such supermen.

@@addressinggettysburg Do your homework- read 'Pickett's Charge- Eyewitness Accounts' by Richard Rollins and then get back to me with your assessment of the day. You learn history by reading what the people who were there had to say- not the historians' accounts. Good Luck in your education:)
