Here we have a new FG830 pitted against my FG800 and my Alvarez MD60BG. Is it worth the extra $$$? I think so what do you think?

Interesting that the FG830 which is currently priced at $289 sounds as good or better that the MD60BG which is selling for between $650 to $850 (4-12-2023).

Sounds to me like the 800 had dead strings... and needs a setup. I've owned both, and really prefer the 830 to the 800, just as I did the 730 over the 700. The problem is, there are 10X as many of the 800 sold as the 830. They're much harder to find on the second hand market. I currently own a 19 year old FG403S (Sitka Spruce over Nato) and just picked up a 3½ year old FG830. Right now they're neck and neck due to the sweetly aged top of the 403S... The Rosewood leaves Nato in the dust, both tonally and visually. Volume and projection also go to the 830.

Great Video, here's a suggestion regarding your Yamaha that in the video doesn't play quite as good, if your good with your hands, have a few tools you'll be able to make those Slight changes ( with the help of Google + their Luthier's ) Yourself. Take your time, watch the video's carefully an' start, that's how it happened for me, I couldn't afford the adjustment charges, asked my local Luthier's for advice occasionally, + now I'm quite confident on my own. Give it a try, you might be surprised, kind regards Don 😊😊😊

830 is a nice piece. I changed out the nut and saddle with bone and did a set up, fine instrument. Done hold the pick so tight
