I am about to get SLAUGHTERED! 😂 I know I'm in the minority here but I prefer the Cover FX because it's talc free. The price difference doesn't surprise me because talc is a VERY cheap ingredient and the LM powder has a ton of it. The Cover FX powder is also paraben free and mineral oil free and the LM powder isn't. I agree that the Cover FX powder is overpriced but you're paying for quality of ingredients and, just like with any other product, an increased quality of ingredients also increases the overall price of the product. Especially for high end makeup, I'd rather spend my money on ingredients I know will be better for my skin.

Lindsey Bro Mo The LM and IT cosmetics makes my dry under eyes look crapey and very dry. I'm definitely going to check out the Cover FX mainly because it is talc free! Talc is not a friend of dry skin in my opinion, it's also what gives the very matte appearance in my opinion.

Tammy Warren I feel the same about the Laura Mercier and I LOVE the Cover Fx one.. I use the setting powder for my under eyes and the illuminating setting powder for the rest of my face! They make beautiful powders!!! You can't go wrong with cover fx imo.

Lindsey Bro Mo I'm with you but I'm sort of miffed to find out the amount of product they are giving you. It's only 1/3 of LM. LM is a higher priced brand so I'm really bummed that they included such a small amount. I do like it a lot more for the ingredients and I do feel like it's lighter in the feel of it.

All things being equal, I'd go for the cruelty-free brand, Cover FX. I don't think we should have to hurt animals to make us look prettier. Just my 2 cents

It's USD7 for 5g on Amazon and free of talc, parabens, artificial pigments, animal ingredients, mineral oils, and artificial fragrances. It's a Korean mattifying and setting powder that is the HG for many Asians and Asian beauty enthusiasts.

The LM one is contains talc which is a cheap filler it is literally the first ingredient listed which is the reason it seems like you are getting so much more bang for your buck. The cover FX one is talc free. My personal preference is the Cover FX but to each their own.

Monika Weiss I have very dry skin and noticed the LM one makes my under eyes look crapey and more wrinkly. Is the cover FX less drying in your opinion? I'm with you about the talc, I prefer talc free...

I find it did not make my under eyes crapey, which is a problem I had with the LM and with the It cosmetics bye bye pores loose powder. I feel like it is just a nicer formula in general. I also agree with Jessica the Laura mercier is more mattifying, but I prefer the less matte look with the cover FX so I feel it is less drying in general.

Top Tip! Rather than removing the clear sticker that covers the wholes in the sifter, leave it in place and punch out just four holes, makes it easier to control the amount of powder and creates less mess.

Why would you do different concealers and powders? That renders the comparisons for both of the videos completely useless, especially when you're pointing out fine lines and dryness on your under eye. Also the different foundation application could affect the look too.

Some offices as part of their dress code state that your makeup/hair/clothing cannot be distracting and/or disruptive to the office. And While I do a full face of classic makeup nearly everyday I can't necessarily show up with glitter eye shadow and winged liner and bold lip. Right or wrong this is just a fact of many offices especially large corporate ones, as well as many other types of jobs. Jess shows things that are relate-able to those of us who have to follow those kinds of rules. It's awesome that your workplace doesn't have these types of rules but I hope this helps explain why some of us just can't rock that kind of look at work.

I'm 33 and still very new to all the overwhelming advancements/changes in the industry; what products go where, which types of products are are actually worth putting the extra money into, etc. etc. Seriously, I've been wearing eyeshadow backwards, applying base with my fingers 😉 besides eyeliner I know nothing lol. I have dry skin & absolutely LOVE the CoverFX Illuminating Setting Powder. I'm afraid it may be getting phased out as the larger size is no longer available on Sephora.com, but the smaller size is quite generous - 4g, so a bit less than half of the full sized CoverFX powder in the video - for only $10. It too comes in two shades. Highly recommend!!

Jess, I love that you are doing these videos and it's obvious that you really enjoy doing them. Sometimes it's nice to know about a different alternative for a high end product. Don't get me wrong, I love the drugstore dupes for high end items but knowing which of several high end products is better cones in handy. The Benefit Dandelion Twinkle equals to about the same price as Dior because you get so little! I bought the NARS trio because you actually get a ton of product even though it looks small. You never know how shallow or deep those pans are!

Love the cover FX illuminating powder feels wonderful only skin. It's great for buffing and setting my foundation. I prefer to use the RMCA powder for setting my checkboxes, chin and in my tzone.

Good video. I have only used the Cover FX and notice the jar was half full when I purchased during Ulta's 20 days of savings. It was only $20 and I was thinking of trying the Laura Mercier, because of all the reviews. Even though I don't like the quantity vs price, I like the extra cover on the jar and that it is less matte. Thanks for the video.

I have the LM one and oily skin, it makes my skin look absolutely beautiful but it's not great for keeping oil away. I do highly recommend the LM under eye powder though, that's the only one i've ever used that barely creases and hides my bags x

The LM is full of talc, cheap filler talc. I would still choose the Cover FX even if it is more expensive.

"Too many variables" I think you nailed it. Since you had 2 different concealers on, and had applied your foundation 2 different ways, I think the comparison wasn't equal... so although you gave good information and had good intentions, I sort of feel like the wearing comparison meant nothing.

First let me say that I love you! I was interested in seeing how the cover fx powder worked but I'm quite confused. If you were doing a true comparison why would you not give them each a fair shot by using the same concealer underneath? Using a different base will\can change the way powder sets. I understand you film multiple videos that are intertwined but I just think that you can't get a true comparison this way. The information you shared I could've looked up myself. Just a thought.

Some people even jess say they are a lot alike, I don't think so at all. I'm a hardcore shape tape fan. I refuse to use anything else. I already love LM...just wondering about cover fx now. I purchased the Laura Mercier translucent loose setting powder because you raved about it. I love it too 😃. I don't wear foundation anymorre, I used tinted moisturizer or a BB Cream. I don't even have to use a pressed powder either. I have normal skin too. I mainly focus on eyeshadow looks..I am a eyeshadow pallet and mascara freak 😃💄

I came to comment for the same reasons that some people already have..but I def think that the price to quantity difference between the two products is the difference in ingredients. cover Fx has quality ingredients and is free of Talc (which LM has a lot of) but also free of fragrance,parabens,mineral oils and gluten which is cool to know that about a beauty company..loved this video! I have combination skin and I use both of these products and like both of them! The cover fx works great as an all over or under eye setting powder for me and it's flawless BUT on my skin I don't stay matte as long as I do with the Laura mercier powder! On the flip size the Laura mercier powder is too drying for my under eyes! But love it for all over my face! Honestly I use both of these powders every morning because it works 😄

I am as pale as you can get and most 'translucent' powders actually oxidise on my skin resulting in my face looking darker than my neck. Which one of these has more tint to them? Do you think either would work for me or should I try something like the RCMA No Colour Powder?

Definitely going to pick up a travel size of the CFX. A while back, I'd decided to splurge on a travel size (which are still expensive lol) of a higher end powder for an event, debated between these & the guy at Sephora said both were good, neither gave flashback, but he preferred LM, so I got it & LOVE it. But, I'm still so curious to try the CFX before I plunk down $38 for a full size LM. Especially since I have dry skin & I'm seeing many in the comments saying CFX is better for dry skin. The LM is so good I'll be ecstatic if CFX is even better!

I have read a lot of reviews that have said the COVER F/X is multipurpose for both the undereyes and the face. Many many reviews I've read about the LM state that it is more of an overall face powder (rather than for baking). I use two powders and rarely come across one that does both. That said, if the COVER F/X does both, wouldn't you prefer to just buy one (easier for travel, and time saving)? Another reason why the COVER F/X one might be more expensive is it is a brand new and improved formula. COVER F/X is known for it's innovation and scientific research. It is a company that initially started in a hospital developing products for burn victims (because nothing fulfilled their sensitive skin needs). It is not only innovative but has always embraced diversity (in skin tones and extreme sensitivity). I know I sound like I work for them (they started in my hometown of Toronto, Canada) but I have always been a fan of what they offer and what they stand for. I love the LM brand, but when was the last time her formula was updated?

Skating Canuck Cover FX is talc free and cruelty free as well! The only reason you get more in the LM one is because of the talc and other fillers in it. I think LM is way to drying on my already dry skin and it makes my under eyes look crapey... I'm definitely checking out the Cover FX!

The LM powder has consistently caused me to have skin problems. I recently got the Cover FX product and so far, my skin hasn't reacted. I think it's a better product for sensitive/acne prone skin types.

Marni Zavaleta yes. I'd love to see how the RCMA powder compares to the LM!! With ingredient breakdowns and check ins throughout the day, flashback test...etc.

I have the LM and Cody Airspun. I have normal to oily skin, and I bake my T-Zone with the Cody and use the LM to set my under eye and cheek areas. I wonder if she's ever tried that brand before as a dupe?

I have RCMA powder and the ingredients areeeeee: Talc, Silica. That's it. I have dry skin and I don't like it...

I know it might sound a little crazy, but I feel like once the LM sets, it almost gives a slightly "moisturized" look and feel to my skin. Again, I have combo skin (normal to oily). The Coty Airspun, once set, looks slightly "dry" for the first 2-3 hours until my natural skin oils mix with it. Also, I feel like the LM locks in my makeup a little better than the Coty.

I went to Sephora to pick up the Laura mercier setting powder and then just happened to find CoverFX perfect setting powder and it was 50% off ! So I ended up getting it cause it was only $15 and I liked the way it looked when I sampled it. Glad I found this video seems like I made the right choice since they're so similar and I got a good deal on it :)

Does the cover fx packaging feel like cheap? Because it seems like i will love it but that's kind of a pet peeve of mine i know it's dumb but i can't lol

I prefer Cover FX as Laura Mercier will emphasis wrinkles if you have them, and with dry skins prefer a more luminous look, but liked your video on the comparison.

I was ride or die for the Laura mercier until I didn't want to pay for the high price so I tried the nyx HD photogenic powder and I love that even more. I don't get a white cast and I've never gotten so many compliments on my skin since I've started using that.

I only use the powder to set my undereyes, I use a pressed for the remainder of my face so I get the little $10 jars of CoverFX. Just an FYI for people who use a similar technique. The CoverFX also doesnt dry my undereyes up like LM does.

i have a mini LM powder(0.33 OZ/ 9.3g) from a sephora favorites set and the container is practically the size of an individual eye shadow lol so it really bugs me that the cover fx one could appear so big but has so little product inside

Have you tried the NARS loose powder? I started using that bc Sam Schurmen swears by it to fill in fine lines and I've been pretty pleased with it. Would love to know your thoughts though.
