@@am3nadiel571 I have never tried htc Vive, so can't say anything about that, but you will save a lot of monay going with Oculus. For me Rift S is the better choice, sad they did cut back on some parts on it, but it's still the better HMD imo, and a good step up from the CV1 in many aspects. So nice not having to mess with sensors anymore!

When i used to be on CV1, i just tore off my foam as the glue holding it in place was wearing off anyways and it was so much more comfortable that way but my eyes were closer to the lenses and i was able to see the edges of the crappy POV more but it worked.

Sorry for late reply.. After I got better headphones to the Rift S, I haven't missed the CV1. The clearity in the Rift is so much better. But today I think getting a deal on a Quest 2 would be a better option. So nice not needing cables!

I've tried every VR headset from the Oculus DK1 to the Pimax and Index and all of the others. To me, the Oculus Rift CV1 still feels like it was the most well built and stable for it's time. The inside out tracking of the S is amazing, but good God, enough with these terrible controllers from Valve and HTC. MAKE IT FIT THE HAND. I don't want to be waving a big clunky stick, I want to have the controller feel as though it's natural.

Tracking on RiftS is better but only in front of you. There is no advanced moves with a sword, no archery, no gun scoping. Because you can't bring the arrow or scope to your face. And forget grabbing a disk behind you in Echo titles. They really should have allowed us to use CV1 sensors along with the headset. Then it would be nearly perfect. Outside of the audio.

But yes, allowing us to use external sensors would have been good to exclude the inside out tracking weak spots, and also for users that do have tracking issues with it.

The tracking bit is a great step up i can imagine, i found when i only had 2 censors with CV1 it wasnt great 3rd sensor is better but all those extra usb and cords 🤯. They needed to change the rings do to the inside out tracking. But they should have kept the size, they went back to a more CV1 styled controller with the Quest 2 that feels a lot better than the S controllers. And yeah really sad they moved away from PC VR.. .

Very curious if the guardian feature is still available on the rift s (in the cv1 it lets you set how big your play space is and make virtual borders, was one of my favorite features of the cv1)

It is, but so much easier to set up on the S, you draw your boundaries with the touch controller.

@@duliomartinez8238 Yes, but the coolest feature with the S is the pass through, where you can press the home button to see your play space through the cameras. Really handy when you hear someone in the room or wan't to pick something up, a controller or water bottle etc.

i would say with the controllers that its just because you had gotten so used to the original, i had the same problem because i had the CV1 for a very long time and was so used to the controllers but than got used to them and now they feel completely normal

They do feel a bit unbalanced with the rings pointing up, but do to they weight it's really not much. And as you said, mostly just notice the awkwardnes when picking them up cause I'm used to the CV1's.

I never tried the first Oculus, but did get the Rift S after having a ps4 headset. So far I have been very impressed with the Rift S, has been awesome for driving games especially Automobilista2, but loved the Halflife Alyx, this was a gaming highlight for me in Vr. Seams to work best for racing games though, you get that I am wearing a helmet vibe which is awesome 😊. Great video dude. All the best 😊👍🏎

I can never get halflife2 to work with a headset though even though it says on there is has VR, it always crashes if i try it. But halflife 2 is the one game i would love to play in VR. Alyx was worth every penny and i pre ordered it at full price and was not disappointed. Some truly awesome experiences going around City 17 😊👍

@@kinsal_9308 Depends it’s a bit of both, it has lower res lower hz worst audio and worst tracking and worst controllers and the mic is awful on it and you can’t manually adjust IPD, but in some sense also has more comfort in side out tracking so don’t have to mess with sensors and sharper image

No they will be the same in that sense. The motion sickness comes from a conflict between your eyes and inner ear. Your eyes tell your brain you are moving, but the inner ear that you are not, if you are prone to motion sickness you will get it no mather the VR headset. But you can train the motion sickness away.

I haven't tried the Quest, but with the link thing I'm sure both are a really good buy. And with Quest you kinda get 2 in one, both stand alone / mobile device without cables, and a upgraded Rift with link. I think the clearity bump from a CV1 is bigger on the S than Quest though.

I never use my CV1 anymore, just having it so that the kids can join me. I would say go for the Rift S, best valued HMD for the money! So easy to set up and use and great screen and clearity. There is still those white static flashes every now and then, Oculus try to solve that, but I don't see them that often and only one screen, so not a gamebraking issue. And also the sound isn't good.. Is it a 2 or 3 sensor setup with the CV1? If it's only 2 and you mostly do room scale, I think you need a 3rd sensor to get solid tracking. I'm really happy I went with the S, but you need an audio solution for the S.

@@mikimosky4109 The black levels is better in the CV1, do to the lcd in the S really dark environment look a bit grey. But hardly ever notice this and the screens look really clear, and the pixel density of the lcd takes away almost all screen door effect.

Solid review, I used to own a CV1 and found it vastly superior to the Vive Pro which I had used a few times. I plan on getting another headset in the coming weeks so this helped me be sure of what I already assumed, that the CV1 is the one Im going for.

There are situations where you can loose tracking, If one controller get's blocked by the other, behind the back or really close up to the headset. But the tracking of the headset itself is spot on, and I actually had more issues with the sensor tracking on my CV1 than I've had with the S.

@@RVRCloset I'm mostly concerned with actually being able to turn around 360° in games like Onward and Pavlov. Right now I have the CV1 and even with three cameras, I still lose tracking. This might be caused by my less-than-perfect setup, but the S certainly seems like it would remedy the loss of tracking when turning around. Thanks for the response! I liked the video.

It's pros and cons to both, but the Quest 2 have had updates since I did this so you both have some resolution and hz options now. I don't think you will notice a big difference between them, I don't. Both need a audio solution imo, the S is more comfortable. Quest 2 makes it a bit trickier if you are a content creator, but room scale gaming without cable is awesome!

Yes, imo it is, I had huge tracking issues with the CV1. Clearity and colors are also a lot better in the S, plus less screen door and god rays.

It should be more or less the same, or even a bit less. You only need to reach 80 fps with the S, and much of the clearity boost on the S comes from the rgb pattern on the lcd screen.

God I want the better visuals so badly but I hate halo style head sets. I hate the new controller design. I can’t believe what they did with the headphones. I’m just really bummed about the S. Personally I’ve never once had a sensor issue. Seriously not one single time in 1000’s of hours. I also play VR almost exclusively in the dark. So there is that. And I play mostly Elite. So wtf ??? I am such an oculus fan. I hope I don’t have to wait another 2 years for a new model that actually is worth a shit. Otherwise I guess I’m stuck with this old ass cv1.

Thanks bro!! No, sadly you can't use the old touch with the Rift S.. I would say it's worht it, even tough you need to fix a audiosolution for it. So nice to get rid off tracking issues with sensors, better comfort and nice clear colorful view! However, if you play a lot of dark games like Elite, I would advice to try before buying.

As a Rift owner since the beginning of 2017 when the touch controllers came out, I can honestly say after getting the Rift S tonight, OMG, holy cow, and wow! For me the Rift S is the headset I have been waiting for. It has less screen than anything I have ever used including the Oculus Go, which was my previous standard. The SDE practically doesn’t exist for me. The God rays are slightly more noticeable than the SDE, but seem to me to be about 90% less than the original Rift. I have gone through my library of games and noticed tons of details I never saw in games before. It’s mind blowing to me just how good the image is. Also this is the first headset I have ever used that didn’t fog up on me even when I played 10 minutes of BoxVR. The only downsides I should mention that bothers me, is the cable, even though longer, is much thicker and reminds me more of the stiffness of the Vive cables than the Rift, and the back of the head strap, where it adjusts, feels like cheap plastic that could break at any moment. Aside from the two negatives the benefits far exceed anything I hoped for in a $399 headset. As far as I am concerned the Rift S is all the Rift 2.0 I need. Also after hearing every review about the Rift S, and how tremendously awful the sound was from the Rift S speakers I was bracing myself for some truly hideous non-bass, tinny, too-quiet sound. Again I was pleasantly surprised how loud and clear the sound and music was. Maybe Oculus updated the drivers today, who knows, but it sounded great to me.

Sorry to hear that! Where did you buy it, from a store or used from another user? The CV1 uses 1 USB and 1 HDMi, the Rift S use 1 USB and 1 Display port.

If the problem is your pc and if you have a working displayport, you can try to use an adapter hdmi to displayport...

You said the tracking is better on the rift s?? Haha that's the same reason why I returned my rift s to best buy. The tracking sucks as hell. Try playing a military sim or using a bow and arrow. You'll regret saying its better

Yes I feel the tracking on the Rift S is way better than my 2 sensor setup in the hall way. And I constantly had sensor / tracking loss and issues with my CV1.. I have tried that, both Onward and Skyrim works without issues. You do get tracking loss really close to the headset, but I haven't needed to change my playstyle in either of them. I have a link in the comments on a video where I try the tracking in different games.

@@RVRCloset interesting, I've used it all week and it barely tracks my hand properly while trying to scope or aim down sights in onward or other milsims, compared to using my cv1. Even while playing the lab and using bow and arrow, more than half the time it loss tracking of me holding or loading the arrow

@@EG-O That is weird, how different people can have such a huge difference in experience with the tracking! I have read that direct sun light or really bright rooms can be an issue with inside out tracking, maybe other things can have an inpact too. Cpu, gpu, power and or memorie?

@@RVRCloset no way I spent over 4k on my PC lol it is a powerhouse. Idk maybe I'll rebuy it again after they fix some of the bugs and make like a clip on headphones like the psvr mantis ones. Maybe I had a faulty rift s.

@@EG-O Then that shouldn't be the issue..😁 Maybe some software thing or as you said a faulty Rift S. Guess Oculus will solve most of the bugs and issues people are having with updates and patches, but always hurts sales and customers when those things happen with new products..

@@Kasmuller Den känner av ditt läge så bara att trycka recenter, sen är du redo både för room scale eller bil / flyg. :) Ibland händer det att den blir konfunderad var du är och din Oculus meny kan vara i fel väderstreck, men super lätt att bara köra setup igen där du visar åt vilket håll du menar vara vänd och tar ner en touch mot golvet för att visa din längd. Tar knappt 30 sekunder de gånger det händer.
