I beted on the Ford. The double wishbone suspension is one of the best improvements for the ORV
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
Hey buddy! Yes indeed Sir...... Ithe double wishbone suspension is so much better, as is the gearbox! It's also a lot faster than the original. But, the steering isn't quite a responsive...... the monster beetle steers like it's a buggy, and is so nimble and responsive despite the excessive slop it suffers with! I had full faith in my trusty beetle winning this one! 😂 I also think my mate Daz needs to work on his driving skills a bit! Cheers for watching Dirk. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Shows the importance of keeping control of the buggy! That Blackfoot was a lot faster but power without control is nothing. Great work 🙌🏻 No kerbs there I notice Yoda….
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
Woh..... that's almost a complement on my level of driving skills on this one Craig..... almost!! 😂 That's about as good as I'm going to get from you isn't it mate!!! 😂 But yeah, you make a valid point. The blackfoots gearing is definitely faster, but he spent more time correcting! And, I'm adamant that the original steering set up in the monster beetle is more precise and nimble, making it more agile, despite the huge amount of slop it suffers with! Just a bit of fun really bud, but I do enjoy a bit of in house competition! Cheers dude! 🍻 😜 👍 👍 👍

"Double wishbone suspension"!!! 🤣🤣Love it James! 2:29 with the body just hanging in there! Great driving pal! That Blackfoot is a wheelie machine though! Those wide lines by the Blackfoot sealed the deal, it was definitely faster but the better driver won! great stuff mate! 😎👊🦫👍
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
Double wishbone...... Why of course it is!!!🙄 I had a proper brain fart there mate..... and we didn't have time to re film the intro as we were fast running out of light, so it stayed in! Cheers for the compliment on the driving mate..... that's a first! 😂 I'm used to Taylor and that cheeky Craig always slating it, even Dom joined in with them on this video!!! But, I'm well dialed in with my trusty Beetle..... it's my go to runner, and really does drive well. I've no idea how that body stayed on to be honest! I've lost track of how many times I've replaced those side body posts recently..... I need to make up something more substantial I think! 🤔 The king black foot is a great truck, but definitely doesn't have such sharp steering as the original ORV monsters! Just a bit of fun really dude. Cheers for the awesome comment buddy. 😊 👍 👍 👍

That's definitely a kit I haven't had a chance to build...an ORV chassis but with the newly designed rear gearbox that that put on the King Blackfoot (I think there were other kits with this change too?) Just can't remember. The ORV holds a very special place in my heart that's for sure. The Blackfoot was my first ever Tamiya at 13 years of age and the memories I have of that kit will stick with me forever. Great showdown guys! I would have had to go for the Monster Beetle anyway...you can't beat the original icon of the 80's!
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
Great comment my friend! Yes you are correct, there were a few other rigs on the revised platform..... but at that point in time I was well away from the scene as I had discovered alcohol, raves and girls by the nineties! (who would have thought I would pick it all back up again 30 years later!) There were many changes over the original ORV..... gearbox, wishbones, drive shafts, upright rear shocks, bumper, steering etc. But, my Monster Beetle proved it's still the Don!! 😂 You are a man after my own heart, I love the original ORV monsters! I have two re re beetles, a re re blackfoot, an original mud blaster, and an original monster beetle..... most of which are shelf queen's! (yep, I have a problem! 😂) But this featured hopped up re re beetle is my go to runner..... I rag the crap out of it and it keeps coming back for more, and is always a blast to drive, whatever the weather, what ever the surface! Vintage all the way for me buddy! 👍 👍 👍

I'm a firm fan of the ORV, and it was great to get out with my life long friend and raving buddy Daz to put these two rigs up against each other. Infact, I used to race my midnight pumpkin against Dazs original blackfoot in this very same field back in the eighties! Now then, time to start on project 'Peter' now we have freed up some memory on Taylors phone. Cheers for your ongoing support of the channel Sir! 🙏 👍 👍 👍

Hey good contest guys and that's interesting about the King Blackfoot because I never really knew what the differences were. Does defo look like the better chassis. Well done to James for keeping the MB going despite the body hanging off. Top work 😁👍👍
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
Cheers Pete. Yeah, I was also quite suprised just how different the set ups were to be honest.... they really don't share much at all other than the space frame chassis. The king blackfoot is really superior in every way, other than the steering..... the original still trumps on that. Unfortunately Daz's driving didn't do it the justice it deserved on the track, and I'm well dialed in with my trusty monster beetle! Thanks for watching buddy, have a great weekend! 👍 👍 👍

Love the ORV chassis despite its faults and the Monster Beetle just screams fun:) The upgraded King BlackFoot looks cool too. It may have lost the race but I have a feeling it can take a lot more punishment than the Monster Beetle.
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
You know your stuff Sean. I have 6 ORV monster trucks in total, they are superb, but to run them properly they require quite a lot of time and money thrown at them! MIP ball diff is essential, shocks need upgrading (the re re stock cva's are really poor) the rear trailing arms travel needs limiting to stop them dropping drive shafts when fully compressed, a high torque servo saver helps with some of the steering slop, the rear chassis brace needs to be upgraded to metal, motor upgrade is essential to as these are slow and heavy rigs..... I've also found 2s lipo helps bring them to life a bit! I just now need to find, or make some upgraded body posts, as I'm snapping the side ones nearly every time I take it out!! 😬 But, I love driving this one, it always puts a smile on my face! Thanks for watching Sean. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Hey Fil! Just a bit of fun really mate. The original Tamiya Monster trucks will always have a fond place in my heart, and they are such fun to race! Interesting to compare two different ORV platforms though, it's actually quite surprising just how many different cars came out on that ORV space frame chassis over the years! I would still love you to call a poor boys rc speed challenge on this platform at some stage..... It really would open up some interesting potential! 😉 Thanks for watching dude. 😊 👍 👍 👍

I agree you should have gotten a 10 second penalty for cutting the course but since it was all for fun I'll let it slide!!! Great seeing them out running about! I was quite surprised the MB body stayed on for the last few laps!!!!
@greenhawksrc68063 ай бұрын
He he 😂..... I'm not guna argue with that mate, I will take that ten second penalty.... and still be fastest! It wasn't intentional, just got a bit carried away! Yep, I side clouted that bollard and sheered the rear side body post clean off...... but was determined to finish my laps!!! Amazing that the shell stayed on, although the rear wheel arch did slit one of my rear tire walls! Im getting too old for serious racing, I did enough of that in the early nineties with my Lazer zx. It's all about having fun now, and taking Tamiya Monster Trucks around a basic track with your mates is always a blast. Cheers for stopping by Addam. 🙏 👍 👍 👍
