The Quarantined Wargamer presents another 30 Minute Batrep, this time using the To the Strongest rules and his 6mm Punic War collection. This is a fictional battle set sometime around 215BCE.

Thanks Lee, enjoyed this, very inspiring solution for my small table situation. I have just been playing a boardgame (SPQR) covering the battle of the River Trebbia, so your timing is handy - also pleased when the music stopped! :-) made the narration much easier for my older ears.

I have a large TtS solo game planned for later in the year. Just want to get my Demo game for Broadside in June over and then I can get some more gaming in and do a few more battle reports.

The rules seem quite simple and easily remembered.

I don't understand why the Triarii are represented with a line / block like the Hastati and Principes. There were half the number of Triarii as Principes or Hastati* and it's unclear if they would be involved in the 'switching lines' as the Hastati and Principes. They were often moved to the rear of the flank of the main infantry body to either cover thd flank if the cavalry were lost or reinforce the cavalry. I think the writer of he rules should reconsider the special rules for pre-Marian reform Republican legions. *1/3 strength hastati, 1/3 principes, 1/6 velites, 1/6 triarii

Great vid and fabulous figures. But, remember light troops don’t count many manoeuvre as difficult though .

Great video and love your gaming set up, the terrain and the figures are superb. If I may there are a couple of rule clarifications that may help for your future games: 1. at 11 minutes when you did the Group March move with the Carthaginian infantry, the unit nearest the Numidian LC could not have been included as all units in a Group move must be within the command radius of the general. If the the general commanding the infantry was Hannibal then it was ok but I do not think you said it was. 2. Light units count all activations as easy activations aside from light chariots in rough terrain. 3. The Quincunx is a deep unit but moves as though it is a standard unit. It is armed with a Shock Missile which is used when charging or being charged and not used as a missile weapon. If a Quincunx successfully completes its special rally activation then it can replenish the shock missile if it has been used. 4. When using the ability of a detached general to re-roll an activation dice for a unit in its command. The detached general is only moved to join the unit if the re-roll is successful, if it fails the detached general remains where he his.

Was looking to get into TtS! and 6mm so this was the perfect video for me to stumble upon. The armies look incredible. I was wondering what the mat you’re using is? It looks sort of like Woodland Scenics readygrass, but with a lot more variation in color to give a more natural look.
@MiniatureAdventuresTV11 ай бұрын
This was from Deepcut Studios. It's rubber backed with a nylon print surface. It's smooth for moving figures across but can be a bit shiny in pictures. I'd highly recommend the fleece mats from Geek Villan. They look incredible and I'm changing all my mats to these bit by bit.

They look superb. What base size do you use for your troops and the command? 60mm by 20mm?
@MiniatureAdventuresTV Жыл бұрын
60x30 to allow space for a label behind the troops.
@andrewbarnett4518 Жыл бұрын
@@MiniatureAdventuresTV Thank you, good to know. I think the labels played a trick on me, making them seem narrower. Been trying to decide what base size to go for a while now, and I'll be settling for this!
@MiniatureAdventuresTV Жыл бұрын
Excellent, glad it was helpful. I'll be branching into late Medieval soon (6mm Wars of the Roses) and have stuck with the base size for that project too.

@@MiniatureAdventuresTV I am looking forward to see more about that project. I like the basing you have planned for it and will be copying that as well.

Awesome looking armies. Where did you get the miniatures from? So cool to see such small scale figures
@davidmay56123 жыл бұрын
That was great, liked the way you explained what was happening. One question, what grid size are you using for these 6mm figures?
@MiniatureAdventuresTV3 жыл бұрын
3" squares.
@HeresyProducktionz2 жыл бұрын
Hello I really enjoyed the video I am looking at maybe trying to the strongest for 6mm miniatures. One question I had is whether using 10 sided dice compresses the activations a bit considering cards I thought you still use the jack queen and king cards? Maybe I am wrong I am just looking into it! cheers
@MiniatureAdventuresTV2 жыл бұрын
The picture cards are used elsewhere so the decks are just four suits of the 1-10 cards. So swapping for d10s works providing you do it for both sides.
@HeresyProducktionz2 жыл бұрын
@@MiniatureAdventuresTV okay that is good to know! Maybe I will try dicing as well
@MiniatureAdventuresTV2 жыл бұрын
Using dice instead of a finite set of cards (where any number is only replicated four times) is slightly different, but if you use dice consistently, the impact on game mechanics is negligible. Glad you enjoyed the battle report. If you liked that check out my Quick Strike video of Trebia using TtS! 👍
