Battlebit: 3 measures of Skill and why they're flawed

Battlebit has quite a few stats to track your performance. Here, I give a quick overview of all of them, and discuss why all of them have issues.

Clippy, First - Kudos to you & your channel. I really hope you have success in its growth. A server I play on emphasizes high kills, not realizing that the race for the highest score means habits which would get them dominated in a fair fight. Another server saw a player who blared proxy chat music, never used a mic & spread their squad across the map. But at the end they 'proved' they were the 'best squad lead' because they had highest squad lead score.. All this to say why your video so valuable on giving insights aren't clear to newer / less experienced players. By far the most overpowered skills in an FPS are teamwork & communication - both of which cannot be tracked by any single statistic.

To be fair, battlebit does lean more towards the arcade, solo style of game. From what you're saying you might enjoy some slightly more Mil-Sim style shooters such as Hell Let Loose or Squad, I really enjoy playing as squad leader there, which sounds a lot like what you typed out!

@@ClippyTactical This is true, but was not intended to be so - additions such as map markers, former leader class & even a command channel all speak to the original intention to be a mil-sim.

I remember watching a video a little while ago, you’ve probably see it too, about BBR’s theoretical _”identity crisis.”_ I agree with stuff people in the comments have pointed out and said, which is that the game is supposed to be a bridge between both mil-sim and arcade shooters. There are some squads that I hop into that are very into the co-op and comms gameplay style, and some that are more focused on the arcade, solo player experience too. I personally like a mix of both. There are some times when I’m big on comms and working together as a squad, and there are some moments where I prefer to sit back, choose Recon, and play on my lonesome as well.

Sadly nope, even if your death stat isnt getting reduced by revives, your kill stat is also getting padded via "Assist counts as kill" - which for me definitely add up over a game!

I play on the Australia servers. Looking at the top XP players, shows a lot of the Aussie players on the same server. RoboCat, ttv/snooozn, custard fart all play there. I was wondering why the skill ceiling there was so high.

The devs are saying they want to help new players as the community is so small that when they join they just die over and over to experienced players and quit. Let's see what they do.

It's always fun! I usually go for highest kills, but that's whats great about the game, there's no "right" way to play it. You're free to set your own goals because none of the measures of skill are that accurate (unlike say CS:GO or Valorant giving you ELO rankings).

That’s one of my goal whenever I play too. It’s always a good feeling to see it up there, and it also mean _everyone _*_else_*_ also sees it on there too._ The other personal goal I have is to *TRY* and have a K/D ratio of at _least_ 1 in any given match, using the in-game scoreboard as a measurement. Also when I’m playing Recon going for longest kill in fun, there’s been quite a few times where I ended up getting purely on accident.

It felt like you think its either this or that stat. Good players are judged on the combination of those stats to represent a skill level. As you mentioned in the video stats can be playstyle dependend and inflated. But in the context of just trying to measure skill from meeting people playing pub servers then they will contain tryhards and shitters, so some sessions u will be 5-10kd some 2-3kd depending on the competition of the current server you are on. Experience and history of Games like Battlefield, PlanetSide2 etc. (ManyPlayersFPS) gives a guideline of what the levels of skill usually are. There it is usally measured by KD and then u check their KPM/ACC because KD alone is lobby/server/playstyle dependent. A good ACC is measured depending on the BTK of the game given. As battlebit has a low BTK (bullets to kill) the avg acc is lower as u overshoot more on avg. In games like Bf (4-6BTK) 25-30%ACC is good, in ps2(6-8btk) 35-40% is good. KPM is less affected by this difference in game mechanics. The chart goes sth like this: You start with the 0-2kd new players/noobs/campers, the 1.5-2.5kd ego tryhards (big ego because better than new players and noobs) and then you get the 2.5kd-3.5kd stuck gamers (either chill or toxic). After that you reach the 4-5kd territory. Going past this point is usually not accomplished because someone is a more "skilled" player but usually due to playstyle choices like clans rez spamming/vehicel mains/base snipers. e.g in Battlebit i have 4.5kd , 25%ACC 4,1kSPM and 3.4KPM ---> in bf5/2042 i have a 4.5-6kd (2042 has AI for kd inflation), 2.5-3kpm and 28-30% acc. You get the point (I could list all my accounts on all the big pub stomping games)

Just pointing out that for an average player, going for high KPM is opposed to maxing KD (sitting in spawn with a tank is prob the best way to farm KD). You are clearly in top 1% who can win consistently via mechanical skill, not much point making a video targetting your demographic, as you're already doing stuff correctly!

If you want to set a SPM / KPM score you have to get started sooner rather than later! Like see how long I've been fragging at above 2 KD ratio and it still hasn't yet caught up? The more stats you get the harder it gets to change them
