I hate how this game died because it was being compared to overwatch when this game had so much more than overwatch and it played completely differently in the sense that you could level up your characters and change their abilities during games, there were enemy NPCs it felt more like a first person MOBA than it did a hero shooter.

This game got compared to Overwatch until it finally died. And now look where Overwatch is today. The promised amazing story that blizzard kept saying was on the way, all the amazing changes, amounted to nothing. Meanwhile, battle born had to die despite having an amazing and entirely different feel and story, with additional side stories showcasing characters interacting in unique ways, while changing the side stories each time you replayed it. This game deserved to continue on.

IMO there is more character, charm, charisma and simple cool-factor in the two second animation of Thorn rolling her eyes in this sequence than Overwatch has ever managed in its entire lifespan. I quite enjoy Overwatch as a game, but I hate its sanitised, focus-tested, cliche-ridden style so much.

@@DodderingOldMan A one off, mini-boss with maybe 25 lines of dialogue per unique instance, had more character than all of OW. I miss Geoff, “Arackniss” the spider god, the best sentry unit anyone except ISIC could ask for. We never see or hear from Geoff ever again, and yet he’s so memorable.

Say what you want about this game. This is the best intro for a video game ever. I loved the aeon flux style animation and deltron. Epic. I personally enjoyed this game but they never shouldve tried to take on overwatch. If this was released a few months before or after this would’ve done well.

They didn't try to. Overwatch took them on. When Overwatch originally was going to come out, Gearbox delayed Battleborn. Then Blizzard did the same to Overwatch and changed the date to the day that Battleborn changed to.

Because they said it was "like borderlands" and had a co-op campaign so alot of people thought it would be like borderlands... but it wasn't. Then you had the marketing saying it's "like overwatch"... But it wasn't. So everyone who bought the game was disappointed and anyone who would've liked it had no idea it was even a MOBA styled game.

Devil The King The main thing I didn't like about it was the PvP itself. The TTK felt way too high and it felt like I was pelting players with paintballs instead of bullets and the pacing itself felt odd, like they tried to combine too many game types into one game. Final gripe is the humor: I've never been a huge fan of Borderlands' humor and Battleborn is rife with it, so much so that it gets tiresome really quickly and turned me off most of the characters.

Man... I remember being 11 when this first game out and it was blast. I played it on and off and then one day I couldn't log in. I was devastating thinking my disc or my internet was messed up but the issue persisted until I realized in high school the game shut down and nothing was wrong on my end that I could've fixed. I remember getting the Master of Miko, Orendi, Pendles and Thorn skins and feeling excited for getting the next one to flex off vs other players. The game was so fun honestly and I wish I could still play it. For now i've had to settle with League of Legends, another MOBA. I just want that first person focus in a MOBA again.

I love all the little elements of characterization in this prologue. The game really did a great job of giving its characters a ton of personality, I just wished it hadn't gone out like it did. Montana and Oscar Mike being friends, Thorn being eager to get out of the dropship and rolling her eyes at the technology around her, Rath trying to act all cool, Marquis being all calm and collected, it just all comes together so well, and this isn't even half the characters. I'll miss this game.
