@Doge king Sure the conflict in Ukraine against Russia military advance is bloody. But that is paled in comparison in the horrific condition in the First World War, especially in No Man's Land, in the Western Front in which a war of attrition of Germany and France. That place is smeared with so much corpses, grounds became muddy wet from rainfalls and trenches became the graveyards of many soldiers who were relentlessly gunned down and bombarded by heavy artilleries. You must understand that World War I is the first war that mankind have to face in using new technology of 20th century via using 19th century tactics. It was totally a recipe of disaster. You have men first time using this type of warfare that they never experience before and old generals and officers only knows about old-style strategic order. There's no limit from killing each other as that the usage of chemical weapons is a norm back then. So putting all this facts. You can't really say that Ukraine being recreated as the same from the war that took place a hundred years ago. It's not the same at all.

Leaning against a wall trying to catch their breath is he machine gunner of the squad. It was an unknown what has happened to them but a wild guess was they were shell shocked and had no idea where they were. Pretty soon the squad leader would approach the machine gunner and shake him slightly. "We're surrounded!" He would say to the hunner "we have to hold this line!" The gunner still slightly dazed would get some sense back in his head with a simple shake and pick up his weapon. At the corner of his eye he witness a fellow squadmate trying to drag an injured trooper away but all the gunner could do was move forward to his position at a nearby window and do what he knew best. Getting ready for the first wave his squad leader would yell out. "THEY'RE COMING!!!" as artillery shells started firing for a while to try and scare them. "HOLD MEN!" As soon as the artillery stopped, a whistle was heard from the other side and the yells of Germans charging to their position by the numbers. "Here they come! Fire at will!" As soon as the Germans were in view, the squad unleashed a hail of bullets into them for a few seconds, the numbers growing by the second "HOLD YOUR GROUND!" the Germans trying to get a good flanking position on the brave men holding them off proved to be difficult as they continued to hose down the area in front of them. Soon though one member of the squad would get hit by a bullet and would be the first domino to fall. "MAINTAIN YOUR POSITION!" shouted the leader as he drew out his pistol and fired some more. after a few seconds which felt like minutes went by, enemy flame troopers taking them all by surprise would appear on their right, wiping out three with hellfire coming from new weaponry. The gunner and leader would quickly take one of them out but the leader would fall to another one. Out of ammo and ideas, the gunner knew he was dead one way or another so he took the three grenades that were on his vest and pull the lin on each of them, rushing the German flame trooper and tackling him to the ground and soon there was no trace of the two as they were engulf in flames and shrapnel. Clarence coupee, 1900-1918 'We came from all over the world thinking this would be our greatest adventure, our rite of passage, let me tell you. It was no adventure' Witnessing the death of their men high above a mountain with the church just to the right of them was the MG nest. "FLAME TROOPER! LET HER SING" filled with rage as he spotted a flame trooper he unleashed bullets within them "PUMP THEM FULL OF LEAD" the support gunner would say and pat the gunner on his shoulder "watch the left side!" He would say and the gunner would turn his MG over to the Germans approaching from the left of the trench and fire upon them until they were no more "airship coming in!" He says to the men within the ruins of a church and they take cover behind whatever they could. "More coming in on the right!" The gunner would swing his weapon to the right and didn't fire immediately, instead watching as the airship would decent slightly and open fire on the ground below it. "open fire! Keep shooting!" The gunner would snap out of it and begin shooting on any Germans approaching them. The airship gunner would take notice of this and decide to take out the machine gun nest while it was there to allow his men to push through "SHIIIIT SHIIIIT!!" sandbags and the gun were destroyed by the bullets and the gunner thrown back. Quickly standing up he would grab his shotgun and make his way into the church as they were getting overwhelmed. Sadly though his fate would come quickly to an end with those around him as three flame troopers took them out one by one and inches of the church. James Johnson, 1892-1918 "New weapons like the tank change the face of the battle overnight. luckily they were mostly on our side... mostly"
