As someone who has the Peacekeeper, I'll say that while as a gun it's amazing, as a sidearm it's actually somewhat lackluster. The reason is simple: its worst-in-class, nearly 1 second draw time. This is a massive disadvantage in the most common situation you'll find yourself reaching for a pistol, that being "oh crap I just ran out of primary ammo, time to panic fire." To use an example, by the time you are able to actually shoot the Peacekeeper, the Mle 1903 could have hit you three times already and be well on the way to delivering the coup de grace. If you're using it as essentially an alternate primary then it can work really well, but as an emergency backup I'd go so far as to say that almost any other pistol is a more viable option.

Despite many being reskins or having weird damage models, I still love the quantity approach BF1 took to its sidearms, especially when there's so much quality to seeing all the weird late 19th/early 20th century sidearms coming to life and doing their thing: The Nagant's sweet reloads which you mentioned previously, both on the alternating individual and the removal of the whole cylinder, the Kolibri not only existing but having the greatest 3rd person prone animation to boot, the Mars Automatic having the piggish recoil it was described as having in navy tests as it's overcomplex mechanism cycles, the C-93 being so commanding and back heavy as its doorknob looking toggle flicks or just this game introducing me to my favorite gun to the point it made me want to work towards animating it (badly) myself: The former Austrian bricky 9mm; the bullet-spewing Steyr-Hahn M1912 (my beloved). Even just the little spinny that happens a good chunk of times I whip the Howdah out for a spin before smattering someone with enough bullets to put down a grown buffalo. And the Peacekeeper is the embodiment of "bones spinning sticks of steel are sooo hardcore." (Alas, I was mad enough to get the Black Bess Landship skin, but not the Colt). Waffling aside, I can't wait for your primary rankings. And just on the subject, are you planning to rank each weapon on their own, or pitting their variants against each other? Or doing some comprise like ranking the M1903 Springfield/MP-18 Experimental and the slug shotguns separately as their own things versus the originals? Regardless, another banger of a video.
@professormemsclass6 ай бұрын
Not to spoil too much, but for the sake of time and because even extreme variants share most of the same stats, for the most part I'll be ranking all variants together, better or more meaningfully diverse variants will contribute to an increased score. The only exceptions will be a certain Medic weapon which has it's own icon, and mayyybe a specific Scout weapon that reworks the weapon in a similarly drastic fashion.

The sidearms of BF1 are undoubtedly the most effective of the entire series, and I reckon it's because the game environment frequently emphasises close combat with its tight trench networks and bunkers, while only one class has primaries that are outright superior in a CQC environment. Medics work at mid-range, Supports have big clunky machine guns that are better used from a stable position, and Scouts shouldn't even _be_ that close. This makes them all vulnerable to getting up in their face. You get more _chances_ to use pistols and melee, without getting shot to pieces by some jackass with an assault rifle a hundred metres away. My favourite is the Webley MkVI, of course. It served me _fantastically_ well during my time in the game. I suspect that the Mars Pistol is limited to Scouts precisely because it's so powerful. It compensates for their general weakness at close-mid range. 16:23 My thoughts exactly. I use guns in Battlefield based on whether they're _interesting,_ rather than just effective. Everyone's running around chasing metas, and then there's me trying to find the jankiest prototype available.

I’m grateful that you included the peacekeeper, a few similar vids I’ve seen didn’t even mention it. Had a blast doing the puzzles and trials to acquire the weapon and have been having even more blasts using it. A reliable sidearm capable of sniping and clearing rooms with ease and something that I never get tired of using.
@retroybd27803 ай бұрын
The "reliability" factor is something I have always found conflicting with the Peacekeeper, but I guess that can be subjective depending on your playstyle. Where it falls hard, has to be its reload timings, deploy time and recoil are its biggest drawbacks, but I expect nothing less since it's a weapon of flare and raw power. Bearing in mind, I have almost sixty service stars with it and I have found that using it as a "second primary" which sounds contradicting and almost counter intuitive in the sense that the Peacekeeper, to get the most out of it, may be used that very way. I can use it to finish off weakened enemies directly after using my primary but not without trying harder to make myself a more difficult target more so than I would with other sidearms to compensate for its deploy time. It really is a gun not for beginners and requires strategy to overcome its flaws more so than you'd think. So, it is reliable, but mostly in areas where other sidearms fall shorter than the Peacekeeper, because using it as your typical sidearm may not be the best way to go about it at first and requires a lot of experience to combat its flaws in order to use it exactly like other sidearms in the game. Wow, I really rambled 😅
@ConeBones15323 ай бұрын
That is all totally understandable. I hear a lot of people gripe with the deploy time but that’s something I’ve never had an issue with. The long reload has been a death sentence for me a good few times though. I main medic and basically use the peacekeeper as my short range alternative to my rifles. Whenever I go into a building I whip it out. I also love it because it can be used for a very fast one-two punch with most melee weapons. Just shoot and then swing. as long as you hit both the enemy will always die. Definitely not nearly the best gun statistically, but wins my heart through style points.

Something that I remember learning back when I was actively playing BF1 (2016-2019) was that a lot of your guns that you would call useless besides the 1903 fill little niches for some players. For example me in my earlier years especially the recoil and fire rate of the 1903 didn't quite sync well with my reaction time and often times I would consistently miss 1 too many shots to get a kill without a reload. Something like the P08 that shot that tiny bit slower better fit my own personal faults until I got enough practice in that handling a faster firing gun was more manageable. Of course I was a good Support/Sniper and went Oberez for 70% of my games unless I brought the 1911 out. In any case its something to keep in my for new players coming in that the stats don't tell the complete story about how a gun "feels" in game.

I kinda know why the C93 has a different damage pattern. It's due to the cartridge it uses compared to the Mle. The C93 fires a 7.65 x 25mm Borchardt, while the Mle 1903 fired the 9 x 20 mmSR Browning Long. The Borchardt doesn't do as much body damage as the Browning Long because of the smaller diameter of the bullet.

07:00 Kolibri is an S-tier weapon. If you learn to play with it, you can use any other weapon. Let me explain: To consistently kill with this pistol, you need to play aggressively. People don't like the Chauchat, but with this LMG, you can afford to play safely by lying on the ground and holding 1-2 buttons. The Kolibri’s damage drop-off requires close distance to be effective. To play aggressively, you need certain weapons. I prefer sniper rifles: Martini-Henry, Vetterli, and sometimes the Trench Winchester. While Martini is a popular choice, the last two weapons are not popular at all, especially the Vetterli. Players hate this rifle, but in my opinion, it’s the best rifle for extremely close fights. Essentially, it’s a Martini with a shorter sweet spot and 4 bullets. After you shoot your enemy, you need to get closer and finish them off with the Kolibri. At first, you will die a lot, but once you learn how and when to push, you can achieve some of the nastiest kills and escape from the stickiest situations. You can’t afford to miss your shots (whether rifle or pistol), so you need to learn how to aim, shoot, and find good positions all over the map. Also since you don't have "solid" sidearm you can't afford to be without bullets on your primary. So you need to learn how to use grenades, gadgets and map features to stay alive and hold your enemies at bay. I understand that for most players, this might sound like nonsense, but trust me, after you kill 100 people with the Kolibri, your play style will change. You will learn how to make every bullet count.

The Single Action Army is , as usual , superior .And the Model 3 is also peak in its power and reliability . Also , the fact that there was no swing-out cylinder revolver makes this game imperfect in my eyes .One more weapon and it could have been flawless .

I feel the howdah should be at least A tier. It’s insanely powerful, unique in design, and has a sweet pullout animation where you flip it around your finger once when you first pull it out.

I think the Frommer Stop should go into B Tier since Scout/Recon primaries are single action (not including the 1903 experimental w/ Pederson device, but who uses that?), meaning that high RoF is key for getting the final ~20ish HP off after hitting someone with your primary from closer ranges
@professormemsclass5 ай бұрын
You raise a good point (although I do want to say that I use the Pedersen Device, low recoil three-shot baybeeeee)

Fair enough, but I prefer the SMLE MKIII Infantry cause 'MuH iRoN sIgHt SnIpEr'. It also has good damage that perfectly helps my pro Frommer Stop case

Been playing bf1 for a long time and I have always used the P08 Its a good gun I like the way it feels and sounds and when playing germany using the p08 just feels cool, I use the red barrons P08 but I think they share the same stats. All in all the P08 is a awsome not very good to be used on its own but as a sidearm it's great however I am currently working on getting the peacekeeper so once I get that I think that will become my main sidearm (I am well aware the peacekeeper is a pretty bad secondary becaue of its slow draw time BUT If I do draw in time it's going to look cool as hell)

Surprised to see more recent tier lists about BF1, also good to see the Bodeo getting a bit of recognition as a fellow leg of lamb enjoyer. I usually play scout more aggressively with either the 1895 Trench or 1903 Experimental (or just about any other bolt action if I'm feeling it) and I prefer the Bodeo over the Mars. The high damage it offers at range close to mid range pairs well with a bolt gun, and also helps getting enemies to the health threshold required for a take down with a heavy melee weapon.

Man, I've had a few chances to net a running Bodeo 1889, but I just couldn't pull the trigger. Definitely a cool wheel gun

Each of the class-specific revolvers are pretty underrated IMHO. The Gasser specifically with its insane two shot range just warms my heart. The Bodeo is still the king tho.

Peacekeeper is a gift from God. The only downside I find with this one is that it takes a long time to reload, but in fact, with these six bullets you can easily put down at least three enemies, so it's not that bad. Other than that, there are no drawbacks. It shoots fast, accurately and looks excellent.

Small detail, but I prefer the MLE 1903 because of its handling, it actually has the fastest swaptimes for a sidearm, along with its reasonable damage, recoil and range, its the best IMO for being a side arm, a swap when you're in trouble! :D

Jail for putting the auto revolver in the b tier it is by far the best revolver in my opinion, looks gorgeous especially with the ivory skin, quick reload, better damage and fire rate than any speed loader revolver. This thing on arden forest absolutely pimps i had so much fun using this with minimal reload suffering

Tbh, I love No. 3 and Mark VI. It’s mostly because i like quick reloading, and No. 3 looks amazing with single action animation. Mark VI and No. 3 also feel insanely reliable

The weapon I use in my scout class is the MkVI, because it can be both a decent secondary weapon and is also a reasonable rifle finisher (finishes with 1 shot up to 28 meters). In this case, I don't use the Bodeo, because for me the scout class is the only one that really needs a "primary sidearm", because due to the low rate of fire of rifles, if you end up having to face multiple enemies, a sidearm with a faster reload makes all the difference, in addition to the fact that it has a very decent TTK (and it is this factor that prevents me from using the Mars, because despite it being the best rifle finisher, it has a terrible TTK, which makes it almost impossible to use it as a primary sidearm)

One thing I always give BF 1's sidearms,is that they are (most of them) viable, even if some overshadow others,like the Mars automatic basically being a desert eagle makes the sniper unique revolver kinda redudant. With that said, Nagant/Steyrhand/Auto Revolver/Obrez pistol my beloved it. Never bother to get the peacekeeper

Hated how crap sidearms felt in BFV after how usable and fun they were in 1. Hard to see V as anything but a downgrade in every category. I guess building things was sometimes cool?
