I love how BF1 made bolt action rifles with iron sights highly competitive (as they should be) with the other weapon classes. Really nailed the effectiveness of them, especially if you're like me and regularly shoot long range (200 meters or more) with the iron sights. My only gripe was that the other classes didn't get access to the infantry variants unless you played that dead Back to Basics mode

still can't understand how bf1, bfv and bf2042 were made by the same company
@Foddeur2 жыл бұрын
From what I've heard, a fair amount of the team responsible for BF1 left the company between BF1 and BFV. I've also heard a similar amount of brain drain happened after BFV dropped and before BF2042 came out - if it's true, then it speaks volumes as to how the quality of BF games seemed to drop off. Compare the unified, strong and confident vision BF1 had, and how subsequent BFs had conflicting or confused vision for what kind of game they wanted to make!

I feel like in games like this, players have way too much speed and mobility which makes hitting someone with a single shot rifle, very hard. In the real world people can't speedly move sideways, or durn on a dime, due to physical mass. If we had the speed and mobility of one of these games, we would end up falling over constantly and spraining some serious ankles.
@Foddeur2 жыл бұрын
Battlefield does still provide a relatively 'arcade-y' experience, so I can understand them not wanting to make the player movement not TOO weighty. I feel that BF1 has a decent amount of player fluidity, while an amount of deliberateness that isn't too frustrating - though it took some time to get there, with DICE having to tone down the slide spam and the ADAD wiggling! Now BFV on the other hand... I find that game's movement to be quite messy with the speed players can go at!
@oolooo Жыл бұрын
I do not mind the high movement , the erratic nature of the enemies dodging and weaving my shots is what gets me .
@jmgonzales770110 ай бұрын
yeah would say the speed is actually accurate especially soldiers would move fast under fire. Its the quickness to change direction is what is unrealistic. Tbh i would say this is the perfect ww1 shooter. I don't think isonzo, verdun, tannenberg or anything can top this. I personally think if the movement speed was reduced its perfect. Back in its prime i was able to play some bolt action rifle servers only, In maps like st quentin scar and maps with many trenches its perfect. @@oolooo

Funnily enough I actually couldn’t hit shit with this gun because its iron sights aren’t accurate to the real gun, which I own. I then downloaded a historically accurate iron sights mod for bf1 and immediately started getting over 50 kills a round. Absolutely lovely gun, Mausers Masterpiece!
@markpalka638225 күн бұрын
In spite of its shortcomings (its weight, length, recoil, and its rear sighting system which forces the shooter to compensate by trial and error at distances less than 400 meters), the Gewehr 98 Mauser is superb, and highly accurate! And I would, even these days, carry it and have confidence in it in a combat situation!!

Hot damn that was some solid shooting tex. I like the Gewehr 98 mainly for its sniper variant, for iron sight I usually swap between the Arisaka and the Lebel. Any idea what weapon will be focused on the next episode?
@Foddeur2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Sniper variant is what I'd consider to be the go-to of the G98 variants! Appreciate the kind words, and as for the next video, I've been feeling like revisiting one of my earlier Bf1 videos as when I scoped it out, I didn't feel too happy with it... Shouldn't be long now!

This gun is so great. It took me a while to warm up to it but once I got used to the sights it became a mid range beast. The trick for me was to only focus on the front sights and completely ignore the absolute useless rear which on a real g98 are way closer together if the blades were that far apart irl the gun would be unusable
@shockwave6213 Жыл бұрын
The 2 "Blades" you are referring to are actually a part of the Gewehr 98's "roller coaster" style sight leaf. There would be a V notch at the bottom in the middle of the 2 side slide rails.

Eheh, I rarely use AT mines myself! And they're sort of a 'set and forget' kinda weapon that might detonate a while after you place them - unless you commit to running up behind tanks, laying mines and hoping they reverse over them! I'll see what can be done but no promises!

This infantry variant has a few advantages compared with its scoped counterparts (of the Gewehr 98 class or series of rifles): one is that it has quicker recovery of relative accuracy and quicker recovery from recoil, essentially (including with respect to hip-fire); another is that it has a straight pull bolt, essentially; and another (if I am not mistaken) is that it has reduced effects of incoming suppression when wielded. Also, it has no scope glint, whatsoever, unlike the other two variants of the Gewehr 98 in the game.
