You use AMD Evolved for capture gameplay? If not use, the FPS Drops is high and Frame Time variantion is very high, is minimum, 2 or 3 FPS in the maximim in the AMD capture Software, The Fraps and other records programs dont use the Chip for capture for the VGA only the AMD Evolved, in Nvidia the Shadow Play, Its not commom the huge FPS Drops in 280X, whatts the Windows version you use? W8 is very low performance for games, and W10 is BETA.

It's a little bit strange that you get that low FPS. I have an i5 4460 + R9 280X configuration and i get between 45 and 120 FPS in Battlefield 4 on Ultra Settings, your CPU is better than mine. I noticed when you entered that house and there's not much texture to render, you should've had over 100 FPS there.

Marnix Kaashoek I have a msi r9 280x, i5 2500k, and 16gb of 1333mhz ram, nothing overclocked, on mantle api, and all drivers up to date. I run bf4 on low and it will be near 144fps and it will just drop really low for a few seconds. This happens on nearly any maps, even games with not many people. IT gets even worse when I lock the frames or vsync to 60 fps by fps dropping more frequently. If I do maxed battlefield three and put vsync on at 60 fps, it never drops.

You would probably stuck with minimum 60fps with 970, depends on what i5 though.

Ian Rogers No, the i5 wouldn't provide a bottleneck at all, you'd be fine. My friend who owns a 970 FTW gets 160 fps maxed in BF3 which is harder to run than this due to worse optimization.

what is your systems specs.

That's because the game is probably using the integrated graphics chip. Go into device manager > display adapters > Right click on integrated graphics > properties > disable. Launch up your game again and it should improve if you have these specs.

if i overclock my i5 4690k to about 4.4 maybe 4.5 should i be ok i know people that have theirs at 5

Dante Boss bf4 isn't cpu intensive. and besides 5 ghz is really power consuming and watercooling might not even be enought to get reasonable temps. 4.4 is just right with high end cooling (noctua nh d14 or AIO watercooling kit) also take in a count that if you overclock you need to increase the voltage, which will lead to a lot of powerconsumption. do keep in mind that you're using a z97 motherboard or else you can't overclock on any other chipset

ricojordanrai Not only that, he's using DX11 instead of mantle which could potentially have a huge increase in fps for him.

ali irayn It essentially utilizes the CPU and GPU efficiently. If your CPU is a bottleneck then mantle would try to improve the performance.

i think there is no SSD, when run, and the game load the map its make a freeze, becouse of the HDD, i think
