While It's true, but the Assault remained the most OP class in the game - It had access to the best weapons in the game (Assault rifles) and had infinite of supplies to heal quicly, while other classes in the game are just more specialised and provided less flexibility in terms of customisations, and no ability to heal fast whatsoever or have good weapons like the Assault class having the Assault rifles which are great in most situations. Silliest part is, the class customisation did not allow to equip Assault rifles and Anti-tank Rocket launchers simultaneously, It's very contradictionary because in reality most armies arm their soldiers with both Rocket launchers and Assault rifles simultaneously, well atleast the specialised forces.

Nobody necessarily wants "innovations" in Battlefield like leveloution, reverse Conquest count down, manual healing, or the endless stream of things they tried which boiled down to gimmicks. What people _actually_ want is refinement and something that re-captures the wanderlust they had when they first got the game. So, focus on that core gameplay loop. Make the guns, vehicles, and maps fun. That's how you get people playing DE Dust 2 with AK's for 20 years - because that core gameplay loop is exciting.

Yeah I think any fps game designer has to look at CS as a franchise and wonder how it is still being such a big game series after 20 years. And then take that knowledge and use it on its own game. I personally would rather have refined gameplay that makes sense with maps feeling logical rather then new features. But I also feel that games need some new features as long as they are there to enhance something, not being a feature for the sake of having a new feature if that makes sense.
