Battlefield 5 Still Blows My Mind!

Can you imagine being a developer who worked on this game, the effort put into how beautiful it was, and to hear the absolute vitriol that was coming out about it when it was released. My heart is not strong enough to take being an A+ game dev!!

For those that don't know why BFV was disliked here's the story: Battlefield V had an awful reveal trailer. It was so bad people were confused what era it was supposed to even be set in. It seemed like WW2 but there was a woman with a robot arm which was weird, it looked kinda steampunk maybe? But people didn't like it and then one of the DICE heads, who has since been fired, made some stupid comments which people didn't like anymore and then the DICE head said, "If you don't like it then don't buy it" So people didn't, and a lot of people just forgot about it during launch and such. The BFV beta came around and it was actually pretty well received, it was fun but also unfinished. Then the game released, and it was fun, but buggy and lacked content. Felt more like an early access game because a lot of the post launch updates were patches for bugs and issues instead of new content. They added a couple new maps that were OK but nothing that was enough to bring people back. Then they announced that they were going to change the TTK DRASTICALLY to make it easier for the influx of new Christmas players. The players were upset because this TTK change basically made very gun take another 3-8 shots to kill ONE PERSON. DICE decided to not push the update. Fast forward to summer of the next year and there were virtually no updates but then DICE dropped an absolute BANGER. The War in the Pacific trailer. It went crazy and everybody was hyped. Then the Pacific update dropped with like 4 new maps, 2 new factions and a few new weapons and lots of vehicles. This update was fantastic. The game was also pretty well polished now. Everybody was enjoying the update, and the overall sentiment of the game was very positive. Then fast forward till Christmas of that year and DICE announced that they will be pushing last Christmas' TTK update that everybody hated. Also, there was nothing you could do to change it, sorry, sucks to suck. So, they pushed the update, everybody hated it. It took like 1 mag to kill a person with an SMG. An SMG would do like 5 damage at range. Snipers were hella powerful and it was awful. People complained for about 2 months and DICE just didn't give a shit. Didn't revert the changes. Then after more complaining they finally decided to revert the changes, mostly. The TTK wasn't changed exactly to what it was like before the update, but close enough and it's still like this to this day. People were glad I guess but they had already lost tons of trust and players. People were disappointed that they tried to push the update again. Fast forward to spring of the next year (which honestly wasn't that much later from the TTK revert) and DICE announced that they were going to stop working on BFV for the next Battlefield game (Battlefield 2042 lol), but there was going to be a medium sized content update in the summer that contained the rest of what DICE had been working on, mostly. So that update comes and released some good new maps, weapons, and gear but then the game was never updated again. That was it. Battlefield 5 had had a depressing "Live Service". Terrible announcement, buggy unfinished launch, some decent small updates, almost ruined the game with TTK change, a great pacific update, did ruin the game with TTK change completely ignoring what the community wanted, then announced a final update and stopped development for the game all for Battlefield 2042 which ended up being an even worse game. Battlefield V in its current state is great, but the story behind its development is awful. What we have now is actually really fun, and while I don't think it's the best BF game, I think it's my favorite one. I love V's infantry and vehicle gameplay. It's also gorgeous and runs flawlessly. Dataminers also found assets and code relating to an Eastern Front expansion that was nearly done but never released. This would have brought the Russian faction into the game. The next BF game just needs to be BFV but set in the modern era, with some tweaks obviously. They do this but aim for a BF1-esque immersion factor and they have one of the best FPS games ever. Anyways, didn't mean to write a short essay in your comment section, sorry.

Basically a bunch of toddlers saw a woman in their "BOYZ ONLY" clubhouse, threw a tantrum to end all tantrums, and promptly started sending bomb/death threats towards the company. In other words a repeat of gamergate. Man, something about women _really_ sends way too many gamer guys into apoplectic rage.

2 combat roles for each class, in recon it is sniper or pathfinder. Your using Sniper so hitting enemy spots em for a while and you can hold your breath for longer, and your hold breath duration is replenished with each headshot kill. Pathfinder you can spawn next to Spawn Beacons outside of your own squad. And gain additional Requisition points for your squad when someone spawns on your Spawn Beacon.

Not getting rez'd by a medic 3 metres away never gets easier. Also you totally won that game you played, the flank was decisive where before your team was being pushed back, normally it takes a full squad at least to be such a menace, but you sir are a ghost in the machine.

I am obsessed with the game again to. I play BF 5 regularly... I prefer it to BF 1. Love both but the movement and gunplay is on another level (I also hate the spotting system of BF 1). Thankfully, you don't ping and mark the players (what a stupid system that is ). You are marking the spot where the enemy is by pressing Q. The graphics are on par with new games, and it runs like butter. It's a shame that they didn't continue to improve it with another DLC, reworking of grand operations, making Firestorm free to play etc... PS: you can roll when you hit the floor by pressing spacebar when you are falling from high spots, you can slide when you run by pressing X, and by pressing left mouse when you are down you prolong the revive time space. Lastly, you have to read the chat when someone is commenting on your team. Press H (while in chat) to enable it only when it's active

This BfV and BF1 both have immense immersion , it's the era and sound effects / music...the only video game ( bf1 ) I ever may had shed a tear to in the dramatic emotional campaign . Also , some "recycled" souls out there playing or watching great war reanactments may have their deep cell memories activated because of the times and hence the connections some have to distinctly ww1 and 2 ( earlier wars or events even ) media , it's the sound and music ...only things missing is the smells. :( of war ) which is a good thing.

I play bfv a few times a week. Noone can say bfv is a beautiful game. I enjoy the atmosphere and the destruction bfv brings. So far none of the newer games have come close to bfv for me as far as graphically

To improve your efficiency you should notice and use the static resuply boxes that are on the map, they will give back your bandage and flare. Maybe also a beak, not 100% on that one. The main gripe against BF5 I think was that after BF1 people expected a game with modern weapons and instead got what some considered a less atmospheric re-skin of BF1.

Spam the jump button when jumping from high elevations as you are landing to perform a commando roll that breaks the fall somewhat. ...more attention to detail found in an old classic title like this.

You can perform a roll jumping of higher area's, so you won't take fall damage then!

I think one of the main reasons BFV received hate was the promotion and launch. IIRC it was promoted as a kind of realistic WWII experience, but with the launch trailer it seemed to be more of a fun Hollywood-esque action adventure type thing with little basis in real life. And, of course, culture warriors and neckbeards were outraged that the trailer featured a strong, female lead (even though it wasn't said you *had* to play as her). Even more outrage ensued when the customizeable character models gave you the option to play as, amongst many other options, a black woman. Historically, there were no black women in the WWII armies, but nor could you launch V-2s as you fancied or jump from driving a tank to piloting a fighter plane in no time, so I don't get what the offense was. Anyway, another common complaint was that the maps were of "unkown" theaters of war (I.e.: scenarios not prominently featured in Hollywood movies and already done to death in countless games already). People wanted Stalingrad and D-day, as this was "the *real* WWII". Personally, I loved the variations in maps, and I loved exploring the different settings. Twisted Steel, Narvik, Fjell and the Italian maps are *amazing*. WWII was more than Normandy and Stalingrad, my dudes. Read a book. Needless to say, I loved BFV and the people who slept on it really missed out on a brilliantly looking and very atmospheric game with fun shooting and mechanics, good gameplay and music 😊

Lol it wasn't promoted as a sudden shift to realism. People saw a woman in the trailer and proceeded to throw tantrums over ruining the realism of Battlefield (you know, the franchise that started out with dynamite jeeps?). They are the ones who pretended it was over realism, not EA or DICE. They also started harassing workers because _of course they would_ The way the gaming community acted from gamergate to bf5 really made me lose any sympathy for my fellow gamers.

Well Battlefield 5 has the right formula it does enough to make it a good game like bf3 bf4 bf1 and HL without taking it over the top ❤ maps are well designed which does keep Playerplayer retention, which 2042 doesn’t have good maps different kind of battlefield One which I hope to never see again I like real guns real locations

Yep, ZH-29 is deadly. It will still single headshot kill but because its not bolt action you just learn to snap the trigger twice in half a second and it will kill every time even if both shots are on their ankle.

I don’t get how we can go from the amazing graphics and general atmosphere of bf1 to the blandness of bf2042 that somehow looks worse than bf4. Even the things the announcers say is bland af like literally if your losing all they ever say is “we’re losing this is not acceptable” then when your winning they go “we’re winning this is acceptable” and I’m literally quoting like this is the bs they say. Game has no soul whatsoever just the same stupid cash grab of a game that we’ve been getting from every major developer for the past 5 fucking years!!!!
