10:30 The assault on hill 117 parallels the video "Green Smoke MVP", and this time it paid off _bigtime_! Lovely maneuver, Dslyecxi. And kudos to Charlie overall on this one.

Beautiful textbook examples of fireteam/squad bounding overwatch tactics. The final assault and resulting CQB was nearly disastrous, but thanks to Dslyecxi and a few other sharp eyed guys, the enemies to the left of their entry point were killed. That one guy that Dslyecxi got into a shootout with around that wall could have easily wiped out the the friendly team in the building next to him. So that was a bit of luck. Still overall superb communication and great job of people picking up the radios and taking charge when leadership went down. I need to definitely join up with you guys as I'm ex-Army and have played Dslyecxi back in the ol' TG (Tactical Gamer) days since ArmA1 and with the BAS crew back in the ol' OFP days. These days I play with United Operations, but they've been taken over by the UBER REALISM people who are stuck in the 1980's and refuse to use shack-tac addons or allow BLUFOR Map ID. They forgot how to balance "Fun" with realism unfortunately. Shack-Tac still seems to strike the proper balance in my opinion.

That was really frigging impressive. Not just the way Dslyecxi commanded the squad, but the way the individual FTLs executed his commands with precision and finesse. Really impressive machine to watch in action, hat's off to you guys.

That assault on Hill 117 was excellent.

That was fucking awesome. Besides the maneuvering, positioning, and timings, I think it's under-appreciated how well disciplined and coordinated the coms were in the chaos of the final assault. The fact that your team could relay and respond to information rapidly and concisely made the difference between a successful attack and a clusterfuck.

You don't need a beast to run it like him, the server they play on is really good which affects the fps a lot. However, you just need a mid level pc with a good cpu to run it well.
@BrotherO48 жыл бұрын
600 to 700$ pc. in fact the RX 480, with a AMD or i5 cpu, 8gb of ram comes cheap. pc only cost alot your first time around but after not so much. for example a good 100$ pc case will last you for 3 to 5 builds. this build is for a good pc...you can even go around 500$ but at that range you lose Value/performances where you are paying more for less. same can be said for 1500$ plus pc that we pay more for less in terms of Value performances
@BrotherO48 жыл бұрын
Kerozen wrong, the 480 performs better or at the same as a 970. i have a arma3 and a 970. i run my games pretty high setting...arma is limited by cpu and serve side.
@Flanker-NineZero8 жыл бұрын
+Kerozen Wrong. ArmA's major limiting factor is CPU and server performance, not your GPU. RX 480 is more powerful than my GTX 770 and I run the game with 30-40+ FPS, depending on the server.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but does ShackTac, when playing adversarial, ever play against other clans or communities? Or is it always against other ShackTac members?
@dslyecxi8 жыл бұрын
It's against ST.
@j.murphy48848 жыл бұрын
Tim trust me, if you're running an Arma unit, never get involved with other communities, ALWAYS leads to drama.
@user-eh4vi9te5g8 жыл бұрын
Haha, I understand. Just thought if you guys knew others with similar styles and same kind of game mentality, would make for interesting challenges and missions. But I'm sure there'd be complications with mission coordination, who sets up the missions, etc.
@j.murphy48848 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, I'm not in ST or anything, I just know from my own projects, it always leads to rows.
@Shane670008 жыл бұрын
So when you want to play adversarial, do you guys just get every member that's on together, split them up into the two teams, and then spend some time making the mission and planning and stuff?

Do you have a tutorial on modding Arma 3? I just bought it from the steam sale and the base game doesnt seem as fun as mods
@mattreynolds37478 жыл бұрын
ARMA is more fun with friends or a community, most communities will help you get set up with their mod-set and style of play
@BlackhartFilms8 жыл бұрын
It's not difficult- game has Steam Workshop support which makes it dead easy to subscribe to most mods; and if you want to manually download and install mods from say Armaholic, most mods are just a .zip folder with the files, you extract that, and drag over the folder inside which should be named something like "@mod" into the game's directory in your steam folder. Then you can activate and deactivate mods from either the Arma 3 Laucher, or in the game itself. Doing it in game usually requires a restart.
@JuiiceTheBox8 жыл бұрын
Yeah checking some communities out now through forums and stuff, thanks bro!

Thanks for the advice, seemed intimidating when I purchased it, but the steps are not too bad. I'll check out some out bro, thanks!

Really the easiest and best way is via communities. Most will actually take time with people who have spent a lot of hours in the game, to teach you all the basics pretty fast and even set your mods up for you. Community on Arma can be pretty damn helpful.
