Then your economy is exhausted, living only on direct foreign cash injections, most of industrial base of the country controlled by enemy as well as most of natural resources ,and half of population is being refugees abroad or at the enemy controlled areas it's just not possible to wage war long enough to at least have somewhat acceptable peace. Desperate measures at this case can only prolong agony, but if fails can also shorten.

It’s an ingenious move, just as expected from a guy who played piano with his pants down. Capturing at such a staggering cost a string of villages in the middle of nowhere that can't be held makes zero military sense. Doing that when a vital logistic hub of your army like Pokrovsk is about to fall is making Zelenskyy the top candidate for Darwin Award in this century. Zelenskyy Kursk misadventure already failed spectacularly, but due to his obsession with media hype he is simply incapable even to cut snowballing losses and as always he is just reinforcing the failure. It's the same nutty pattern as was with Bakhmut, Krinky or a publicly announced failed Zelenskyy offensive in 2023 . Zelenskyy is the gift that keeps on giving to the Russians advised by even nuttier DC gifts.

I don't think Kursk was "intentionally" kept weak, but rather that they reasonably saw no need to dedicate resources to solidifying defenses of border lands that were: 1. not even remotely valuable (it's all empty farmland and sparsely populated) 2. not contested at the time (the actual front of the war is where soldiers & weapons should be dedicated) 3. not valid military targets for the Ukraine/NATO (to any reasonable person, the "Kursk offensive" is just a blatant terror attack on civilians)

Poorly mined borders knowing that Kurchatov which is 50 miles from border has strategic ammo storage depots and Kursk n power plant which is a strategic asset. 2. Inspite of Knowing that neighboring belgorod had incursion attacks , I find it too difficult to believe Russians kept Kursk sector weak 3. Being an open area with farmlands and forests it’s fairly easy to welcome the invaders with fabs.

I'm not sure what the russian strategy is in Kursk I'll be honest, but I do know for certain that Russia has more grand chess masters than any other country. Is it a trap ? I would say more than likely. Are the last remaining capable reserves of the Ukrainian army being destroyed in Kursk right now at a faster rate than the failed 2023 Zaporozhye offensive ? Absolutely, yes they are.

I believe they knew about the military build up near the Kursk Border. They also cleared the mines from the border and didn't really deploy any brigades despite knowing there was a build up near Sumy. It was either intentional, or someone like Gerasimov is a CIA actor and deliberately let the Ukraine start the incursion. Nonetheless, Russia now has the legit reasons to declare war on Ukraine and take off the gloves.

That is obvious misinformation. Most of world sources estimate russian loses around 400 000 to 600 000 right now which means they lost around 30% of their active manpower. According to data of Oryx blog (independent source - only visually confirmed loses) russians lost around 3000 tanks which is roughly 20% of their pre war stocks. Only land force thing where they lost just around 10% are fighting vehicles (not tanks) but still number around 10 to 15k is horrendous. 400 MLRS which is roughly roughly 20% and 1300 other artillery pieces which is around 15% o their pre war stocks. Now these are just loses (and independently confirmed) so if these are so big that to keep up momentum Russia has to rely on much bigger force. Russia probably uses about 50% to 70% of their capacity right now. Data do not lie.
