The video game linked to this was more fun then the movie easily, It was essentially Call of Duty, with a Battleship mini game that affected firefights occasionally

I will say this about battleship: 1. it had its moments , 2. the visuals were actually quite good, 3. parts of the script were far better thought out when it comes to world building like the aliens putting up a dome shield to isolate a relatively small area and then attacking communications infrastructure in the area to further disable communication and coordination of the local forces thats actually something i can see a relatively small invasion force doing when they realize that they are outmatched and their original plan doesn't go trough.

When 9-10 year old me watched this movie I liked it. I also remember that KLE-O and Roblox made a battleship game cause KLE-O has made a couple of Battleship sets

Though it wasn't directly explained in that movie the highway getting destroyed was shown alongside the naval airstation with all those helicopters to show that the aliens were strategically cutting of means of human forces stopping them on the island through destroying their methods of rapid transportation. So it's completely stupid in how it was handled but does kind of make sense...

Yes Battle LA is for the most part pretty good tho it could use a bit more clarity of action in some scenes and well the big exception is the dialogue outside the combat its pretty bad

It's still funny how aliens with advanced technology lose to humans still using regular projectiles. The aliens should be used to deal with laser or more advanced weapon systems loss to 16in guns firing 1,800 pound rounds
