Hey y'all, we are back with the first installment of updates for the dry dock process for 2023. We are excited to get this to y'all and are continuously thankful for the support you've given us so far. This video, Travis will walk y'all through the work that has occurred since our last update.
If you would like to see the ship up close and personal in dry dock, check out our website for tickets for a dry dock tour. They run every Sunday from 8AM-3PM.

If you would like to support the ship but cannot make it for a tour, check out our online ship store in which the proceeds go to helping continue this project.

Everyone needs to realize that this beautiful ship was one of only 3 U.S. battleships to serve as naval gunfire support at Normandy and one of only 2 battleships to serve at OMAHA BEACH on D-Day!!! She served as the naval gunfire flagship of the whole Omaha Beach fleet during June 1944. She supported Operation Torch in North Africa, D-Day and Dragoon in South France, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa!

Props to the crew working on this project for the excellent housekeeping. I've been on many drydockings where the dock is a mess of cables, hoses and equipment that posed safety hazards everywhere. Great job folks!

Back in mid 1960, I was introduced to this awesome ship. It was the coolest thing being able to explore that thing as a child . I was lucky enough to get back to her every year till the mid seventies or so. A few years got by me, but I finally got back to her as often as I could. I have a thing about making mad, spur of the moment dashes to Galveston, I live in the DFW area, and always managed to get back on board. Always a treat. KEEP HER FLOATING, AWESOME WORK

these videos, which portray these initiatives, should be the engine for humanity. I'm Italian, Italy, you know, is the country with more cultural heritage, works, and wonders than any other nation on earth. However, perhaps not everyone knows, certainly those who are not Italian, that my country does not take care of the custody and preservation of its historical artifacts, buildings, ships, let alone castles, ancient farms and places of our past in our history. I respect the United States of America because they know how to keep their treasures and indeed, they know how to treasure what they have. this is your story, take care of it. best wishes for this restoration, i hope one day i can see the battleship texas too, wonderful ship restored by wonderful people. We have lost all our ships and we are also losing our wonders, hundreds of important buildings left in the most complete disarray, looted, vandalized, and in any case never valued. greetings from Italy.

Fantastic work! I assume she will be repainted in Measure 21. It does look iconic and makes the ship very visible to surface observers, but personally I think the contrast of Measure 22 would be better. I remember the ship being especially hot, in a Texas July at the time, with the dark Navy Blue surfaces roasting under the sun. I rather like the idea of Texas in the contrasting upper and lower tones of Measure 22, which might also marginally reduce heat absorption. Just two cents from a man on the internet.

He told me he is most proud of is not one Texas sailor was badly injured or died from accidents during his tour of duty. After the war ended, the USS Texas was in Sasebo Naval Base. A rare jeep was assigned to the USS Texas. My uncle and the CO drove to Nagasaki to view the damage from the nuclear bomb.

I've often wondered about the Ship's original armaments, in that it listed 21 5"/51'ers. I finally figured why it was an odd number. I saw a 1918 photo that showed that the ship had a 5"/51 "tail gun" in a sponson in line with the rest of the lower sponsons. Five, including the "tail gun" were removed in 1926, and another ten in 1942.
