I had the privilage of being a security officer on stage 29, The set of the 1978 series of Battlestar Galactica, It was, to me a combination of delight and bordom, because I was locked in each night in the set for 12hours, for as long as you were assigned for that set watch, But the fun was walking down the corridors, sitting on the chairs in the Viper Pilot's Quarters, Also the really high imperious leader's pylon throne was in there too and of course the Galactica's Bridge.

It seemed each episode of Battlestar Galactica had a lesson to be learned from it. As in "The Lost Warrior", Apollo tells Puppis that no matter how scared you are, you always have to do what's right. And in the episode "War of the Gods", Count Iblis was charming, good-looking, and able to grant any wish you had. But he was really the Devil. When he killed Captain Apollo, I almost went through the ceiling! Each time Count Iblis was hit with a laser beam, he briefly turned into his real persona, the Devil, before he returned to his usual appearance. That scene still gives me the chills, even today.

Here in 2020. I have always loved this theme. It is epic & grandiose. It is equal to the main theme of Star Wars. I miss the younger days of watching this series. I remember it well, we watched it mainly on TV in our basement in the house we used to live in in the late 1970's. Time flies. I also liked the 2000's reimagined BSG.

@DisgruntledPigumon Жыл бұрын
I never considered it a reboot. Just some other timeline sci-fi show. It was enjoyable at the time, but it wasn’t BSG. I have never rewatched it. The original? Many times. ❤❤❤
@dmacbass Жыл бұрын
There is one thing the reboot got right: it's dark. The story has to be dark. We're talking about the annihilation of human civilization down to just 50,000 people left running for their lives. The original show has a hard time gaining new fans because it's too upbeat for the setting and stretches believability past the breaking point. The reboot is still massively acclaimed across the board, even if the ending (which I hated) was controversial.

Incredible this only ran for one season. Sure it was a poor mans Star Wars but for a TV series it was amazing. The SFX were a tad tardy, look at Space 1999 for stuff that was way ahead of it's time for 1970's TV SFX
@franohmsford75484 жыл бұрын
Actually it ran for two seasons - Galactica 1980 was the second season! And the SFX in Battlestar Galactica was way ahead of anything else on TV at the time! It was basically movie level which is why the show was so expensive to make! You forget that Star Wars was a Quantum Leap forward in Movie SFX! Logan's Run came out just a year before Star Wars and the SFX in Battlestar Galactica is at least as good as that in Logan's Run, which was a Blockbuster MOVIE! How many Sci-Fi TV Shows TODAY have Special Effects equivalent to Movies made 2-3 years ago!?!

I liked how the battlestars in the original series were hundreds of years (yahrens) old and that the war with the Cylons had been waging for years. You could see how a war weary people would grasp at the peace offered by the Cylons only to be fooled by them and Baltar who turned out to be fooled by the Cylons too. .
