It's amazing to me how Cylon tech seemed to have gone downhill. You see a new Cylon get cut to pieces, but an old model survives fifteen, twenty rounds before dropping.

Similar to how so many modern cars break easily and are hard to fix yet so many older cars can be tossed off a cliff and still run when flipped over. I believe it was best summed up by Scotty "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain."

It's kinda what they said about the Battlestars. The Galactica was made to take a close combat beating, but the Pegasus was more reliant on electronic warfare and destroying targets from a distance. Maybe the older Cyclons are the same way; designed to take a beating but a lot slower and clunkier.

@@Fletchman1313 Well, the analogy isn't quite accurate. Pegasus is considerably tougher than Galactica and was indeed built for all-out brawls with enemy capital ships. That said, yes, the newer Cylon centurions are less resilient than their forebearers. They're faster, more agile and more deadly, but less well armoured, much like Cylon basestars.

Honestly I think they struggled to find "odd" looking firearms. Finding weapons that look strange and exotic isn't as easy as finding standard NATO weapons for a show like Stargate which was also produced at Bridge Studios at the same time.

I feel it kind of works for the show. At the start of the Second Cylon War the Galactica was turned into a museum piece, I bet a lot of the marine contingents arms comes from reactivated display pieces and whatever could be grabbed from fleet yards and armouries that they could before they had to run for it.

@@username12120 Most come from that Ragnar Anchorage they rearmed in the mini-series at. Got missiles, vipers, viper munitions etc. etc. Assumed they got tons of small arms too. But yeah probably some were museum pieces.

I do agree overall, but have you ever played Mass Effect? Specifically the first one. The reason why weapons only overheated (as opposed to needing more ammunition) was because of element zero being used to accelerate extremely small projectiles to insane speeds. I think the codex described it as "shaving" of a small block of metal within the weapon. Of course this is another universe (without eezo) and the Cylons are nowhere near that advanced, but if you stretch your imagination they could have a similar concept. But yeah, TV is definitely the right answer.

the only answer i could think of is a magnetic rail gun flechettes and the flechette would be very thin but theres gas blow out so im not sure that correct. tv is still the best answer

For those that don't know, rolling a hard six is something you see vipers doing. When you see a viper do a 180 and fire, that's rolling a hard six.

No, it's a dice reference - in particular playing craps. Rolling a "hard six" is two 3s, as opposed to an easy six which is 2+4 or 3+5. Similarly a hard eight is rolling 4+4 rather than 3+5 or 2+6. Rolling a hard seven is particularly impressive :)

Honestly full scale ground battles seems to be a massive rarity for this series. From everything I’ve seen about the show from the clips and games regarding it… it seems more space battle heavy. Which for a guy who likes his infantry warfare in stuff like this kinda sucks.

3:19 wouldn't that kill Lee too? If you play it in x0.25 speed you can see the cylon was about to swipe him with the razor claws but Lee gets a grenade round off into its chest. At that range either the blast or shrapnel off the cylon would have hit him. Yet nothing...?

ok i see a scorpion wich is a good almost non recoil sub m gun but the round isnt able to penetrate steel!! also the mp7 and mp5 are 9 mm and also almost useless to penetrate any kind of armor!! A 7.62X54 with a steel head would be able to penetrate a cyclon solider maybe and damage or destroy him. My advice Take a 50 cal with a armor piercing round so a solider is a one shot!! OK this is future But if they fight so long against the cylons they must have better guns or ammo than that and know what they are fighting against btw thats why we evolved and adapted so quickly to everyhing. IF you have a starship thats able to go FTL then plz bring more future guns !! I would bet on a handheld Railgun its ammo typed and can oneshot a cyclon or a rpg 7 heat should do the job ^^

mp7 isnt 9mm it is specificly designt to pen armor it is a 4.6 by 30mm round that goes alot faster than regular 9mm and is able to defeat 1.6mm of titanium and 20layers of cevlar at 218 yards. the other small handguns your right about.

In some of the scenes, they are civilian guerilla fighters. And like too many 2A practitioners in America today, they went for personal preference in their pre-Annihilation arms-keeping.

puncher davis also IMO a cut (largely for budgetary reasons) to quality and accuracy of the handful of firefights that happen over the course of this shows 4 seasons are pretty forgivable in the face of what the show was as a whole. Good, pretty well-built science fiction.

The first scene: The Galactica was boarded and a key point in this episode is how regular shells were ineffective against Centurion armor. Also it's not unrealistic to use a sidearm in close quarters. Real life special operators do so in really confined spaces The second scene is literally just a bunch of survivors. The weapons they're using would have been scavenged The third scene is a coup with the weapons lockers seized, so their sidearms and whatever weapon they find is all they get The last scene is them using whatever weapon they could get their hands on. Do keep in mind that the fleet's manufacturing capabilities throughout the series is minimal to non-existant

The original series were much better, with their laser guns, the sound of the vipers and raiders. I'm a bit disappointed with the new series. They apparently wanted to make them more realistic by using fire arms and missiles but they took away all the magic of the red laser guns of the colonial soldiers and vipers and the blue laser guns of the cylons and raiders. Too bad they changed everything so much..

As someone who thinks the original series is cool, it was basically a Star Wars ripoff. This is actually original and stands the test of time
