BSGO good memories mostly back when it was balanced, now if your a new player or just never made it to level 200 you get bent over the barrel. Can't go anywhere in the game without a rival faction player finding you, blasting you for daily missions and trolling, then tossing out insults while your repair bill becomes impossible to keep up with because no matter where you go they instantly find and nearly one shot you.

Seems interesting, I always wanted to see more of the first cylon war and was sad to see Blood and Chrome not become a full series. This feels like it will satisfy a lot of that curiosity about that era of the Galactica universe when humans and cylons fought on even terms.

Scott there was one episode where they went back to Commander Adama's days as a fighter pilot during the first cylon war. Not to mention the direct to DVD move BSG Razor where they encountered first generation cylons. So yeah you did get to see the first cylon war in the reimagined series, if only tiny tidbits.

My dad and I have watched this show multiple times through, and we both agree that it is one of the best TV shows ever. That being said, we did not expect anything new to come out of the series since it has not had anything new in a while considering it ended in 2009 and most of the spinoffs failed. Me being the gamer in the family, I'm surprised I didn't know this. But tonight my dad showed me the trailer on Steam for this game, and it looks frakking fantastic! We are both pretty excited, I loved the character development and conflicting religious themes of the show, but we all have to agree, the space battles were the best part (I'm 16, so don't flame me) To a new BSG game, so say we all!

The Boardgame captures the character interaction perfectly, Diaspora is a wonderful viper-pilot simulation. I think Deadlock makes a perfect addition to these existing games by adding in a proper strategy title! The Homeworld Mod does a very good job at this for sure, but I think the more polished gameplay, balancing and the whole campaign gameplay and story are more than enough reasons to buy Deadlock as well as playing the Homeworld mod. So far, both the actual gameplay and the whole marketing campaign around this have been great. We get lots of information about the game and everything looks convincingly good.

0:19 Seeing capital ships flying so low in an atmosphere like that... not sure how legit that is. The only time we saw something like that was when Adama pulled his crazy stunt on New Caprica, and that clearly wasn't standard procedure.

This has been on the very edge of my Dradis for some time, but this is the first glimpse of gameplay. I quite like the fact that it is a prequel to the main series, and that we play the events of the first Cylon War. Only other first Cylon War thing I'm aware of is Blood and Chrome, and that was bloody awful.

Having been fascinated with Cold Waters for a couple of weeks (Jive Turkey's channel in particular), I think it'd be interesting if someone produced a space game where mechanics aren't simply: 1) go to marked target, 2) see that their health bar goes down before yours - but rather where the whole deal is about detection, navigation and avoiding being detected.

Oh. So they changed the design of Galactica type. It is clearly based on the show version, the shape is basically the same, but it looks like they updated it - they added few things, like third flight pod arm and beefier head/neck connection. That's a shame. I really like the way this Jupiter class looks, but I hoped that classic 2004 Galactica would show up here as well, possibly as older Battlestar class. Oh, well.

That 2004 Galactica is not classic, it's a bloated warthog filled with actors doing a dam good job of compensating for terrible writing. I guess it's a step up from terrible acting with decent writing like the original series had, but they had it rough doing a space show after Babylon 5. The bar was simply set too high.

The Artemis class Battlestar in game is a nod to the old show, it's the old Galactica design with the new paintjob, looks quite nice in my opinion. But I'm one of those frakking heretics who prefers the 2004 Galactica.

I think that what attracted people to this series had much less to do with the religion overtures and more the very realistic situations and issues that came up. They are fleeing a capable and violent enemy, as their civilization was on the brink of annihilation by something they had a hand in creating. Against the odds, with their own infighting and interpersonal relationships still made it to the next day week or episode. I also think the big draw was that a lot of people believe that we are not really from this world, that there are answers and we could one day meet our forebears.

Personally I think this is the best way to do a BSG game, both BSG online and the homeworld mod showed how a game set in the series timeframe is seriously limited being tied to the events of the series. I always wanted a BSG game where I could fly battlestars in the great war where there was freedom for the game to expand and try new stuff without being limited to the limited restrictions the show gives. While not flying battlestars, a tactical strategy is the next best thing.... .... SO SAY WE ALL!

I haven't played the board game so cannot comment directly, although Scott mentioned that it was a game about deceiving people so it sounds like a game about the character interaction rather than fleets in combat, which is the type of game I was referring.

At first I was a little upset about it being Turn based...but it does seem to help rather than hinder things when you consider all the sub system stuff for the ships...Plus I think the Battle replay really makes up for it.

Battlestar Galactica's greatest strength as a story is also its greatest weakness. That being the way the show ends. It leaves no room for continuation which is unfortunate no matter how good of an end it was.

Even as a die hard fan of the show, I wouldn't care that much. We had several iterations of BSG over the many decades and each one is free to take their own turn on certain things. I don't think consistency is that important. It's about the style and the themes. :) But kudos for noticing!

Honestly, though? I'm happy the battles take a while. Certainly better than seeing Battlestars explode like fireworks every ten seconds just because a single nuke (or something even less potent) hit them. After all, these things were giant fortresses of doom and pain.
