Smoke rounds are your best friend. Laying down a screen of smoke allows you to try and negate the clan range advantage and isolate individual opponents while you close to danger close.

To build on this, for .5 tons, you can have 3 hexes of smoke, with vehcile grenade launcher

Excellent stuff as always, with the Clans you MUST be aggressive against them because if you let the Clanners dictate the engagement's range then you're screwed.

I am new to the game but not to the lore. And I'm honestly really just struggling making different types of missions. I would love to see even a short video talking about how to make missions or even with a small guide. I do have the chaos campaign book but a little overwhelming and confusing for me. Great video either way, love your content thanks for looking at the Clans, Ghost Bear Forever!

You should look up death from above wargaming. I think they have good campaign/mission rules.

Damn good stuff, I may not play tabletop, but I recently got into HBS Battletech as an intro to the universe, besides just the Mechwarrior title/s I've always known. I'll absolutely be keeping this in mind, facing Clanners or otherwise. A Panther also has that single PPC on the right arm, take that out and an SRM4 is easy to deal with comparatively.

Im literally buying up Helepolis 4Hs to form an Artillery Lance to support all my old Plastech 3025 era mechs. I have two Platoons of IS Standard Battle Armour as well. So atm im testing my Night Camo colour scheme and wanting to form a reinforced Company. From there I will be working on a Clan Jade Falcon Garrison force. Mostly IICs, conventional infantry, transports for the infantry and the option for taking some Elementals later on.

Clan mechs mount most of their weapons in their arms so that they can carry Elementals and shoot.

My old gaming group, I was always Inner Sphere and my buddies were always Clans and we ALWAYS played custom designs. Wild times!

Our Clan Chapter preffered to fight it´s battles at night, just to humilate the IS even more. When 10+ to hit it the best the get it´s just waiting for them to cry and quit.

Man, I hardly play clan mechs because ultra auto cannons confuse me. Any one have a better explanation of how they work?

You can fire either single shot or fire a double shot (double heat, double ammo) you then roll on the SRM-2 table and see if you get a high enough roll on the cluster table for the 2nd shot to hit home (so a 6+ on 2D6). Roll double 1 and the gun jams and cannot be used again if you fire both shots. If you score a pair of hits, each one is rolled individually to see where they land.

The ultra-autocannon basically turns your otherwise normal AC into a (usually) harder-hitting, longer-ranged SRM-2, but with a slight risk of breaking itself. Yes, you can opt to use it as a "conventional" AC each turn you fire it and eliminate that risk (or just save ammo). Clanners tend to use Ultras as their default gun; think of it as a standard AC that has the option to double-tap somebody.

@@america-san No worries :) Glad I could clear it up :) The ultra's a nasty bit of kit but its got enough drawbacks that folks are a bit leery of them. The biggest issue, is that, unlike a RAC, you can't clear the jam, and if you roll double 1's, then that's the gun screwed with no way of fixing it.

Rotary ACs are the same thing. Only difference is you can chunk out up to 6 rounds. Chances of jamming is higher I think a 3 the weapon jams.

Smoke, speed, cover to create murder corridors, and the over zealous use of LRM carriers tend to help vs clans.

Last time a inner sphere fought me and try to over run me I blow them away. The clanner doesn't even give them honor. Going with anmo weapons helps out for inner sphere against clans. The weapons do the same damage and range. Otherwise, use cover to close range and try and have your force try and swarm them.
