We just did this very mission back to back weeks, 3025 CBT with mixed light/medium lances off of RATs. It's a very different game there, because the control and contesting is much more of the focus than killing the enemy. Basically, it turns into a denial game where you have to play to prevent the other player from getting that second consecutive turn. So one fast-mover hopping between objectives could prevent scoring while being devilishly hard to hit. In the first one I had a Phoenix Hawk whose entire job it was to just survive moving between objectives, for the first five shooting phases he never fired more than one medium laser, because keeping the heat curve down and his hit mod up was job number one. In the second one we snatched bare victory out with two one-legged mechs contesting objectives at turn 10 and preventing the opposition from scoring them, letting us eke out a one point lead.

@@thomberg3457 it's funny to watch it as a Clan battle because the skill levels and weapons loads make blasting your enemy off the objective more viable. Plus Override is just a bit deadlier than CBT since there's no attacker mod for movement outside of jumping. Of course that doesn't help so much when the dice spend most of the game shanking you. :p

Great Batrep! Just wanted to say that Ive been using the intercept scenario since i started playing at my FLGS for a few years now. We changed it slightly to fit classic and hex grids, was super easy (still 6 points with 1 dud, but all 6 are in a line in across the middle. 1 turn to cap if uncontested). Its probably the favorite scenario of everyone at the LGS. Super easy to understand for first time players and always more fun to have an objective over just pitched battles (which have their place!) Been using the campaign rules too, tons of fun!

These are great. The only constructive criticism I have is that I personally have a difficult time following which mechs are doing what/what damage they have as the game goes on. It's extra work, I understand, but a little side table showing each mech's health would be cool.

Appreciate it! We do try to capture that in the “recap” between turns… in the past we tried doing live damage reporting but it ends up being a lot of in game tracking (knowing what happened when) and slows down production dramatically. I kicked around the idea of building an in-house damage tracking app that we could dump into xml that could feed after effects, but, maybe when I hit the lottery and can leave my day job 😁

Another great battle report. Loved the conversion of the Hellbringer A (my favourite Hellbringer variant). I do feel you were unfairly maligning the Viper I, it's a great backstabber with 3 heavy mediums (10 damage each for just 7 heat). Lacking at range, but that's not that mechs job.

Seeing this I think my partner is right in wanting to use this system over Alpha Strike or CBT for doing a mechwarrior campaign. This has that enough granularity that it feels the flavor of CBT but the pace of AS which is really nice. Going to be fun picking this up and playing a few trial matches to get the rules under our belt. But she's excited for playing as Ghost Bear MW during Op:REVIVAL.

The sterilization occured after 3143, after the failed Nova Cat Rebellion/Combine Civil War. All the warriors were killed, and all the civilians were sterilized. In the 3100s, after the second Dominion-Combine war caused by the Black Dragons, the Combine forced the Nova Cats onto "Cultural Reservation districts", basically restricting them to enclaves on Irece Prefecture planets, and limiting their industry. This was the start of the Nova Cats eventually seeking independence.

Since i have a mercany unit form fwl space known as the vegas artearan legion it would be cool if could watch you play them on your channel since there fellow artearans . I could give you the list of battlemechs and we could work it out on what you can try out. And the mechwarrior in command is julia vega which originally her identical twin brother julio vega was in command but was killed by the capellans while the unit was under contract with the capellan confedaration in which Julia took over . How are LRMs grouped? I understand buckshot rules, with groups of 2, but what about regular missle attacks? And are LRM and SRM geoupings dont differently?

In override? Damage is damage, so if you happened to have LRMs and SRMs in a group, the damage would still group per buckshot. Buckshot is optional though, absent that just group per the result on each M dice.

@JerC838 oh oh you mean the record sheets? Well that is a long story 😂 Classic BattleTech still uses the 8.5x11 ones. Alpha Strike uses the baseball cards. This system (BattleTech Override) is a blend of Alpha Strike and BattleTech Destiny (the new RPG). We have a “how to play override” playlist that walks through it.
