My dad and I grew up together playing Battlefield 2, bringing in over two thousand hours in total on the game's multiplayer. When Battlefield 3 came out, he bought that for me almost immediately as it came out. He did the same with Battlefield 4. But after a certain event, he wasn't able to buy Battlefield 1 for me, nor would he be able to. So I decided to follow in his footsteps and continue the Battlefield legacy for him. And would you know it, Battlefield 1 became one of the greatest Battlefield games I have ever played, and will remain my all time favorite game.

When I hear this song I imagine a nameless, faceless soldier standing in the middle of what used to be a field. All that's left now is mud and the ruins of buildings. Corpses are scattered all around and the desperate cries of the wounded go unanswered. Everywhere around the soldier is chaos: people killing each other by gun, bayonet, gas, etc... Planes swerve through the sky, locked in a dogfight. The soldier's gun hangs loosely at his side. Then at 2:00 the sun finally breaks through the dark clouds, and the golden rays shine right on top of the soldier. Even during all this chaos, destruction, and desolation, with humans devising more deadly and efficent ways to kill each other by the minute, one solemn note rings out higher than the rest of song: hope. One day, maybe not today, next week, or even next year, but one day the clouds will eventually part, flowers will blanket these scarred lands, and the soldiers will lay their guns down so all those who came before can finally lie in peace.

I remember how on the last day of the war, the air was silent. We all waited for the moment when it all stopped. And when it did, I walked out of the trench, my rifle in my hand, and looked to the sky. The gas was clearing, and the crunching of ash beneath my boots was slowly fading away. The ash that had replaced the shining fields. The ash that we had put there. As I can see the glimmer of sunlight breaking through the dark clouds, I reach up, take off my gas mask, and let it fall to the ground. It feels like the first time that the sun has touched my face in years. I plant my rifle firmly into the ground and take off my helmet, placing it on the butt of the rifle. A reminder of this war that only I shall remember. Then, letting my hair blow in real wind, not the wind torn by bullets and full of ash, I slowly walk past the wreckages and the corpses. The graves of my friends, and go out to meet the people that I once called my enemy. God bless all those who fought and died in this war, and thank you to the developers of Battlefield 1 for this true masterpiece.

@Dystopic aura Yeah I thought it was a very good movie, but I really wish they kept a bit more to the book. I get why they went with the end of the war theme, but Paul's true fate in the book was even sadder because of how pointless it was. "All quiet on the western front" being the official report for that day when their men were dying; it really gave you a sense of how out of touch the leadership was.

A soldier slowly opens his eyes to a WWI battlefield, he looks around and sees the aftermath of an artillery shell with bodies and fragments littering the ground everywhere. Then he coughs, "must be all the dust in the air," he thinks. But he looks and sees he is coughing up blood, then he feels a sharp pain in his abdomen. He reacts by clenching his gut, only to feel blood and a terrible hole in his stomach. In an instant he realizes, he is going to die, a million thoughts flash through his head in an instant. A wave of fear and dread sweeps over him, he unable to accept his inevitable death. He looks around with tears in his eyes looking for someone, anyone, to comfort him in his final moments. He is only greeted by the death around him, until he sees a single wounded soldier laying on the ground. He crawls closer, only to find it is not one of his own, it is one of the enemy, lying with his back against the ground with his head rested on a gentle slope. He crawls over to him, "maybe," he thinks, "I could kill him and die with honor,". But when he reaches him, he doesn't see the face of the devil like he has been told, instead he sees the face of a young boy, younger than he his, shedding silent tears that stream down his dirty face. The boy looks back at him, his face, well half of his face, filled with tears. He was also mortally wounded by the artillery strike, with half of his face horrendously deformed with shrapnel and burns. He also clenches at his gut, which is bleeding uncontrollably. In an instant our soldier realizes, "he is not just a foreign devil needing to be killed, he is just like me, we are both dead men because of this war,". So he does not finish the young soldier, instead he crawls beside him and the two fallen soldiers embrace and face death together, comforting and staying with each other as there vision fades and there strength leaves them. Although our soldier was in constant pain, for the first time in months, he was fully at peace. On that day the souls of 2 more men are added cost of the bloody war. Lest we forget the many other souls who died on the blood-soaked fields of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

I'm truly grateful that Battlefield 1 brought this conflict back to spotliught for many people. WW1 is among the single most defining moments in History.. Men had fought for the pettiest of reasons before, but not on this scale, and the scar of it's animal like rage would remain and change the way we see each other to this day, as it not only changed the map of the world forever, but it made us doubt our very own selves. Hisoshima, Vietnam, Korea, Iugoslavia, 9/11, if WW1 stripped men from it's sense of value and created a veil of nihilism, skepticism and cynism as the new way to see the world and ourselves, then those events are proof of it. If the world stopped making sense in 1914, then there was nothing that could stop us from making such heartless atrocitties true again. The great majority of us are hopeless of mankind to this day, WW1 hurts to this day. But we should not let this be legacy of those young men who died there, we are the ones who can make their deaths puposeful and learn that it's not stripping the world of it's sense that will make things right, but being capable of trusting in Goodness again and practicing it, no matter the scale of the act. In the future, WW1 and what happened to the world until now should be a cautionary tale of what happens if we let our worst instincts take over and discard our ideals of morality and goodness. . . . . . "There's still hope". - J.R.R. Tolkien, eye witness and veteran of The Somme.

Been playing more bf1 lately and i remember two years ago buying the revolution pack and playing my first game of multiplayer, best experience ever the weapons and maps are great and I can honestly go on the game and not play instead I’ll just read the codex. I don’t wanna see the day the player base of the game starts to disappear.

Imagine how many hearts were torn by this war, how many loved ones never got to see each other again, how many futures were stolen, how many were shattered for life. All for what....

Today is now November 11, 2018 folks. Let us commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Never forget the sacrifices of the millions of people during those 4 horrific years, whether they died or lived to see the end. #LestWeForget

After running through a haze of bullets for days, we are able to look up at clear blue sky. Not a sky filled with smoke. We we're able to listen to the silence, not the screams, explosions, and gunshots. And at that moment we knew that it was all over and that we we're finally... finally able to go home.

I just recently downloaded Battlefield 1 again since I was feeling nostalgic and heard that the player count went back up, and this track first played at the title screen, and I just froze as I had memories flooding back to me, and it almost made me cry.

I’ve been searching for this for such a long time, such a perfect ending to the final DLC of BF1. Also makes me think of the millions who died in the war to end all wars. Gives me chills every time.

last year, when the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 came around, I played this song to honor all of the soldiers who fought valiantly & bravely throughout the most devastating 4 year conflict in all of history. They shall not grow old.

This reminded me how battlefield 1 is gonna end *sighs with a light heart attack while starring up at the ceiling* but if they must end it they must...*sighs* this will always be the best game...may everything that battlefield 1 has created rest in peace with our heart and may it live on to be beauty and passion...😔😞💘✊

This is the perfect end to a game I still love. Though Battlefield 5 and 2042 are terrible, this game reminds me of so many good times. Late Night operations, 2 hour frontlines, the friends made, the beautiful campaign and the stupid kill streaks and elite classes. One of the best games ever made don’t let it be forgotten please.

I know this is kind of random, but: Don't make the same mistake as me and listen to this soundtrack while reading All quiet at the Western Front. This track while reading the pages near the end of the book absolutely broke my heart.

Why? Why those soldiers dead? For nothing, for just little land pieces, for the pocket of their leaders. They lost their lives for nothing. And this is a great lesson that we should understand: War is hell and war is unnecessary...
