@ROBIN InThAHooD now a lot of black people might have gone overboard with their love of black panther but to call it pandering is a little harsh. I mean, did you really miss the message of if you have the means to helping people (in wakandas case the world) with what you can offer them should you refuse and keep it to yourself in fear of it being used against you or should you spread this knowledge/resource/land for the betterment of mankind as a whole. If this is what you call pandering then you must surely have an even worse title for batwoman, who can only steal from and bash another persons legacy.

I prefer the batman bad blood adaptation of her. How in the hell is she related to Bruce Wayne? On top of that she made her own batsuit with help of her dad plus she used guns. Batman was her inspiration to become batwoman just like with Barbara Gordon/batgirl. This spin on the character is pure of crap, full of craps contradictions and the dialogue is very bad. Plus I have no idea who the villain is. Her men look like discounted versions of the madhatters associates

@zeozelos5 жыл бұрын
Your point? The work isn't the gadgets it's what she does with them. Also lucius is the one that makes the gadgets so even that part doesn't fit. She is piggy backing off his foundation but not taking credit.
@RevengeOfThaNerd5 жыл бұрын
@@zeozelos The point is clear. If you want your own identity then don't copy paste. Her statement was not needed because Bruce or "Batman" wasn't taking credit. People were giving him credit, understandably because she was wearing the Batman costume. Regardless of who made them, which Bruce actually does make them depending on which comic you read, they are his. If I steal your car would that be okay because you didn't make it?
@zeozelos5 жыл бұрын
@@RevengeOfThaNerd first off this isn't the comics and its made obvious that Bruce isn't making the gadgets in this trailer. Second she didn't steal anything The guy who i am assuming is lucius refit it for her. Third the part about taking credit is used whether or not it is being givin or taken so it still fits. Lastly she isn't saying "how dare he be given the credit" she is saying they need to change the suit so they know who to really give credit to.
@RevengeOfThaNerd5 жыл бұрын
@@zeozelos Let's go over ownership shall we. You have a suit tailored to fit you. I walk into your closet and have the same tailor fit your clothing to me, who's clothing is it? That's theft! Those gadgets/gear belong to Bruce. Now let's go over the distribution of credit. She flat out said, "I don't want a man taking credit for a woman's work." if she meant otherwise, then she should have said otherwise. This was written, drafted, revised, and approved. If they wanted it interpreted another way then they could have easily changed it to another tag line. Again, Bruce isn't taking her credit. As to your first point, it could be Lucas or Lucius Fox, comics or TV, it's not obvious who made what. Either way, those are batgadgets which are synonymous with Batman.

@@acousticknights9654 Incorrect. Or, more accurately, partially incorrect. Batgirl IS, in fact, completely different. Batwoman (Kathy Kane) first appeared Detective Comics #233 in 1956, as a love interest manufactured to counter allegations of Batman's homosexuality. Funnily enough, she was removed in 1964 for being a non-essential side character, and in 1984 it was retroactively established that the Batwoman character was from an Earth that was different from DC's main continuity line. She was INTENTIONALLY retconned in 2006 to be Kate Kane, a jewish lesbian cousin of Bruce Wayne's to appeal to a certain demographic.

This *version* getting a *CW* adaptation is "being done right?" Incorrect, lol. CW doesn't get much "right." They have a skewed approach to viewership and ratings, as most people who watch it regularly only have three to five channels. Poorly rated shows regularly get resigned for multiple seasons due to this exact reason. If being done right refers to the agenda push, I'll give it to you that there is a good chance of them getting *that* right. Character and plot development? Action choreography? Merchandising and promotion? Not likely.Trailer already failed. It's meant to garner excitement from(hook) the *broadest audience possible* to get eyes on the first episode. From the source material, she is a hardened vet who was captured and tortured and saw her mom and sister get killed in front of her. There is a lot about the character that makes her powerful and capable. They don't souly rely on the facts that she's a woman that happens to be a lesbian to build her character up. ...but the character's persona does...and people that think that they're inherently better than others piss me off because it's a backwards mentality built on hate and over compensation. The shows got touchy grounds to pay respect to the character's persona and make her watchable. The trailer would've been fine if she had her own costume made and that last line in the trailer wasn't there. The actress is pretty, but I hate that hair cut. Some girls can pull off pixie cuts, but I think she'd look a lot better with a bob or longer hair. If they want to make a show about a female superhero, they should use a character in the comics who was originally a woman (like Wonder Woman, Donna Troy, Jean Grey, Vixon, Rogue, Dazzler, Sersi, Zatanna, etc) instead of a tokenized character, but at least they're acknowledging that she is tokenized. It took a lot to get me to stop watching Supergirl. I survived the: > "I'd rather work for a cool woman than some rich, old white man" (actual quote) >The lesbian wedding shower scene that went on so long they turned Supergirl into a murderer at the end >Jimmy Olsen's sob story of getting handcuffed > Every bad guy using some variant of MAGA or "nasty woman" Then they removed guns from the DEA. Absolute nonsense! Then they introduced a trans superhero and that was it for me. I got nothing against trans ppl but I just wasn't interested in more preaching about trans stuff. I have almost 0 reason to watch this other than to kill time

oh the bad writing thats just coming through in this trailer... 1) Batman/Bruce Wayne would never give up on Gotham 2) the "until it fits a woman" would've been better if the line was "until it fits me" it still covers the woman aspect, makes you feel like/gives the impression that she is the only woman who could wear the suit and also avoids the SJW/Feminist aspect of the line. The line as it stands just reeks of "a woman would be a better Batman than a man", and also feels like its saying "any woman could be Batman/Batwoman" 3) The whole "no man taking credit for my actions" line is atrocious especially when you take into account that she basically stole Bruce's suit and tech.
@davida.j.berner7765 жыл бұрын
Great video on Nerdette's Newstand about how easily those two cringey lines could have been written to say almost the same thing, but about Kate as a character, rather than as a vehicle to push the writer's agenda. On the suit - don't say: "when it fits a woman." Instead say: "when it fits me." On being mistaken for Batman - don't say "I won't let a man take credit for a woman's work." Instead say: "I won't let Batman take credit for MY work." The fact they went the way they did with these lines, does make me fearful that agenda is going to be prioritised over plot or character.

There was a show called "The Bionic Woman" both in the late 70's and again in 2007 that was great..imo. Yes they were tokenized versions of the Steve Austin character but they worked well without the anti male b.s. I guess the 2007 series wasn't anti male enough and too heteronormative..smh. I loved both shows..both the stars were attractive women who beat the crap out of men and women indiscriminately. As a kid I thought Lindsay Wagner was cool as an actress...not my type, but cool nonetheless. As a grown ass man I just loved Michelle Ryan as Jaime and I still have a thing for Katee Sackhoff (who should have been Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers...imo)..but us heteronormative men are a dying breed it seems.

What kind of real Batman fan (or any super hero/ comic book fan) would want to watch this? Seemed interesting at first, I’m ok watching a batwoman show. But with the entire trailer dissing on Batman for just because he’s a man, and also pretty much saying “I’m female, hear me roar”. It instantly ruins the show. Not only does this kind of feminist writing sacrifice what would’ve been an interesting character, but also a great story in general. They better make some big changes in the writing, or this show is gonna fail like supergirl did. Lines fixed: “It’ll be perfect... when it fits me.” Takes out the feminism and makes it more specifically for the character. “I’m not gonna let Batman take the credit for what I’m doing right now” Even though this is a shitty line to begin with, at least it takes the feminism out.

"You owe my boss a new door." Batwoman: "Your boss is my cousin." ...and that gives you the right to break into his office? Does that also give you the right to steal all of his batman gear and claim it's now better once a woman is wearing the suit? I think that's what rubs so many of the Batman fans the wrong way, her arrogance. She probably would have been more accepted if she lost the cocky attitude, found the batcave, and had the mindset of "Bruce isn't here to be batman, so I'll carry the mantle for him." She could be a strong hero without the feminist ideology. Another tokenized female hero because feminism can't create anything new, they have to wait for men to start it for them.

You absolutely annihilated the thought of Captain Marvel where the dialogue had absolutely no SJW tendencies but you’re completely fine with this? Just because they’re not “running away with the fact that she’s a token Batman”? Bro I literally took a dump on this trailer the second it came out and I’m ALL FOR women in the superhero genre. I like the trailer, I think it's awesome. Looks suspenseful, dramatic, action packed, with moments of comedy. I always love the mystery and investigative nature of Batman so this will fit that theme too. The character is tokenized so she is going to borrow a lot from the original character and they do acknowledge that. The reason they don't create new characters is because a lot of people won't flock to them. People constantly wanting what they are familiar with is stagnating creativity, it's the same shit with video games.

This was actually much better than the trailer for Titans. And stayed far more true to the character. Hopefully it won't go as much SJW as Supergirl did, keeping it a bit more "real" is how a good Batman series should go about it. Batman and Batwoman are not shining crusaders of justice, they're dark & violent vigilantes who are not out there to set an example to the broader society. They're out there to stop bad people.
