I met Ann Blyth in 1967, one of my most cherished memories. As I shook her hand, I looked into the most stunning beautiful blue eyes I have ever or will ever see. Even better, she very sweetly thanked me for coming to see her perform. I have loved her ever since, a beautiful woman and a wonderful lady!

“Kismet” has such great songs. Ann has such a melodious and angelic voice. We need more singers like this!!!

The melodies come from works by Borodin.

one of the loveliest songs in a truly wonderful score. Ann Blyth sang it better than anyone else. heavenly rendition, as this song definitely deserved, and got.

Miss Blyth sings as an Angel. I can compare, her, with the Great Diva,s from the Opera. Lovely to look at & lovely to hear her clear voice-

Hrm. Never noticed before how that combines the tune from the 2nd quartet and one from one of the symphonies too...

Superb Ann Blyth. I would recommend everyone to watch "The Helen Morgan Story" and also to see her superb acting in "Mildred Pierce".

+pertinax Unfortunately, Ann does NOT sing in the Helen Morgan Story. They dubbed in Gogi Grant's voice for no good reason that I have ever heard.
@richardlee849521 сағат бұрын
@@urbisoler she sounded smokier, darker, more mailed and tortured. Ann did not deliver that, vocally. but good casting, anyway.
@richardlee849520 сағат бұрын
that should have been maimed, but mailed. sorry. but we have Kismet, despite its other serous flaws as an MGM musical, to hear Ann Blyth at her singing best, in songs worthy of her. like this one.

She could have performed at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York City! She should have. She was never appreciated as much as she should have been!

Want to hear something funny my husband said that he saw this movie and AN life and other movies when he was like eight years old and he thought when women grew up they ended up looking like her I guess he surprised- I can see why he was infatuated do people actually get to be this beautiful and talented without the beauty of plastic surgery in this case it's a gift from God what a beautiful lady

Stopping the video at 1:11 to post this question. Is that Bernie Hamilton singing as part of the chorus? It certainly looks like him. As I look back over my years, I now know that of all the precious Broadway musicals -- and I loved them all --- of the 40s and 50s, "Kismet" was my favorite. It was a magnificent time in musical creativity, matching the musical tradition coming at the same time from Hollywood. And I'm so glad I lLIVED it.

IMDB lists Hamilton as the uncredited Pearl Merchant. Never thought of him outside S&H much less an MGM musical. WOW!

Thanks for sharing this one of my favourite scenes! Does anyone know where I can watch the whole movie? Only have it on VHS from when I was a kid! Thanks v much! :D
I kinda like Eomir Deodato's version, too (of Thus Sprach Zarathustra fame)

Ann Blyth just charged in at Metro, and did better than Powell and Grayson combined. too bad movie musicals were about to become passe around this time. less chirpy, less trilling than the other tiresome two, she could have done a few more really good ones, with that really good and lilting voice, and beauty, but, sadly...
@davidreidenberg99414 жыл бұрын
Richard Lee agree. Way better than that chirpy Grayson. By Powell, you mean Jane? (Not Eleanor)
