I had one! I loved that thing! I did kill the auto feed though. I didn’t take very good care of it and I’m sure that contributed. One time I had a clog during a long power outage and picked up the M12. I missed the auto feed and bought the M18. Not sure why I didn’t get another Bauer. It was much more precise honestly.

Great review! When I first bought it, I thought that it looked almost like a kid's toy because of the bright red but this really is a great tool. Make sure that when you buy it you go in there with a coupon Harbor Freight literally Sands cash in those weekly Flyers. I don't know how many times I've had to run this down shower drain or down the bathtub overflow, but every time I do it I know I'm saving myself at the very least $80 to have a plumber come out and snake out a drain. Granted, I am a plumber, LOL.

I live in a 94 years old house with original clay pipes sewer system. A few weeks ago kitchen drain line stopped working. I tried to use hand snake but could only to pass about 3 feet of pipes and cable came out covered in almost hardened grease.. I have a big drain monster machine from HF but was not able to pass 1 1/2 inch elbow ( part of PVC piping before entering 4 inch ID clay) , so I got this tool. It made 16 feet into the pipe as a champion and opened the drain. Easy to operate, enough power. 5 out of 5.

Great video. I bought one of these a few years back . I honestly did not know I had just bought the best damn drain snake for the money. Power fed forward and reverse. A very well made unit. I have a ton of the Mill? stuff including a power drain snake. Spent a lot more money on it than Bauer. Broke the cable on the Mill and saw this in my overflow shed. Used it today and had to ask myself. Why was I using that other piece. Onward and upward.

This is simply the best small power drain snake on the market. I have wasted money on a number of others and always go back to this one. It is a true power feed device for about 100 bucks. Simply dirt cheep. Sadly I broke the cable on mine just yesterday. The cable replacement is about 25 bucks. I was clearing a galvanized drain in a 120 year old house that had some non code switch backs and connections.

I bought one of these today to unclog a kitchen sink drain in a rental unit. The clog was down fairly far so I had to disconnect the drain pipes under the sink to go straight into the iron pipe that comes up from the basement and out of the back wall under the sink. I ran it down pretty far, don't know how far exactly. But it did the trick! Bunch of hair on the end. Think my renter has been washing her hair in the kitchen sink. Anyway, a plumber or Roto Rooter would have been $150 minimum and this unit was about $125 out the door, so I feel like I made money today by saving money, and who knows how much more I will make/save in the future with this little unit. I'd spent $350 on the last couple months on Roto Rooter and decided NO MORE!

There are a few reasons, you could potentially blow out the bottom of the P trap, it makes it harder when pulling the snake back if its got debris on the tip, the cable could bind up and whip around causing damage to the sink and fixtures. Those are the few I can think of off the top of my head.

I have a basement drain from between my furnace and water heater that runs over to the sump well, about 8 feet away.I used a 25 foot Cobra Tools 1/4 inch snake and it kept getting stuck, making it difficult to pull out.Will this Bauer drill snake work better? The drain has the line from my furnace dehumidifier emptying into it. The drain is cast iron drain installed in 1986 when the house was built. IT has a square plug screwed in just next to it. Does the drain snake go down where the plug is or down the drain itself?Is the 1/4 inch snake heavy enough? Or should I replace it with something stronger?

I think your Cobra might be better than this Bauer, you might be better off trying a Spartan cable in that Cobra machine before buying this Bauer I think you can get a Spartan cable for about the same price as this Bauer and spartan cables are just the top of the line cable in drain cleaning. They are made with Zinc so they dont rust and they are much much more rigid than any other companies cables. I just cleared a kitchen sink stoppage in a 1 1/2 cast iron system using my Spartan Model 81 and my 1/4" cable. If youve got the money though I would suggest looking into the new Ridgid flex shaft the K9 102 would be perfect for what you are describing and you can actually completely clean the inside of the drain and bring it back to almost like new. Subscribe to the channel Im actually editing videos on these machines and cables right now so theyll be dropping in the next couple days. Thanks for the comment! always glad to give my advice.

@@PlumbingExplained Thanks for the reply. My house was built in the spring of 1986, so it's almost 35 years old. The basement drain I am talking about has a cleanout plug next to it, that uses a square ended wrench device to remove it ( same kind of drain in my garage) but as far as I know, it has never been removed. Which leads me to this question, would I put the snake down the cleanout plug, or down the main drain hole? ( If I so decided to try and snake it again?) Being this drain is almost 35 years old ( and never clogged up before) I don't know if a cleanout drain wrench would work on it, considering that it may be rusted shut in place? My garage drain is also clogged up, and I assume goes to the drain line behind the garage -30 to 35 feet away that feeds into the septic drain field or the septic tank. I am the second owner of my home. Been here 31 years. The garage drain most likely is clogged from snow and sand runoff from my cars over the years. The basement drain cover metal plug was heavily rusted, so I put it in a bucket and put some water and some "rust out" in with it.Maybe clean it up and paint it with with rust proof Rustoleum to prevent further damage? What do you think?

Sorry for such a late response bro.... Typically i recommend trying to run it very slowly in reverse while feeding the cable out if you keep going up the vent, running it in reverse sometimes will help it make the drop or atleast possibly knock something loose so you can make the drop.. Run it in reverse and put pressure on the cable back toward you slightly.

Which cable are you referring to? The stock cable or the cable I recommend replacing it with? With the stock cable yes there is a part at the end of the cable that will stop the cable from running all the way out but not with the cable i recommend replacing the stock cable with. The replacement cable I recommend does not have anything to stop it at the end so i recommend once youve got it installed putting an L shape bend at the very end to stop it from feeding out of the machine Hope this helps have a great day!

No info here about pipe diameters . I see this comes with a 1/4" cable, which I read elsewhere is for use on pipe from 1" up to 2". I need 1/4' to make some tight turns in cast iron fittings for 2" pipe. I also need to clean long settled crud and probably rust inside a 2" x 20 ft straight drain pipe/clean out. I think it's seriously gunked up and hard packed. I don't think this could work for the 2" pipe. I am interested in tips from experienced users. I wonder if I could buy an additional cable, like maybe a 3/8 diameter and switch them out as needed.

I think Chris's make the best plumbers dont you ? I dont really clean drains anymore either in fact when I took this new job I negotiated that I would not be doing drain cleaning but you know sometimes you get that little old lady or the extremely nice customer who asks if there is anything you can do about their slow draining tub/bathroom sink thats where this bad boy comes in handy. That being said thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video and leave a comment bro! Really means alot to me and motivates me to continue coming up with more ideas and videos to hopefully entertain guys like you and help Home owners and those with less knowledge on the trade fix their problems or at least understand why we charge what we do. Dude I will say this I was not paid in anyway to make this video I simply loved the tool so much I wanted to share my experience with other people because its one of the most common questions Im asked from my customers what snake they should get to unclog their showers/tubs and bathroom sinks. This snake right here is killer that doesnt mean its foolproof though I just loaned mine out to a friend who is in construction and it took him a few days to bring it back which got me worried and I was right.. he returned it with the cable completely fucked. The Autofeed feature which you know as a plumber can be either a really cool feature or something thats going to cause you ALOT of frustration and I think the deciding factor is experience. If you have experience clearing drains you can tell by the sound of the cable making its way down the drain or by the sound of the motor and you can often feel when you have torque building up and if the drain is filled with water you can potentially like I did in this video use the water as another tool to give you signs specially with a drill snake you should be very in tune and aware of these things somebody whose never snaked a drain before is not going to even know to look for any of these things It also takes a bit of common sense as you know. That being said if you have experience clearing drains specially drains like this then I would say I have yet to find a better 1/4" top snake with autofeed capability. Im going to do another video where I sit and explain and break down every little feature this little guy has because I barely scratched the surface in this video its really a badass piece of equipment and for the price as a professional in the field I can tell you right now you will not be disappointed. It checks all 3 box's for me Looks cool, Works great and is Quality built so I know its gonna last. Check back next week bro Im gonna have a video going more in depth on this machine Im gonna explain every little feature it has and then im gonna take it apart and show how to change the cable and clean it.

Nice video! I bought one today and unclogged 2 drains after my old $40 ridgid powerspin plus broke from the drill attachment stud. The ridgid was a cheap POS compared to this badboy.

never seen someone go down the sink drain by the time you do that you could have had ten traps on and off even on an old building
@PlumbingExplained
@PlumbingExplained Жыл бұрын
That literally makes no sense, how would you have ten traps off in the time I dropped the cable down this pop up missing the plunger ? this is the first and only time I’ve ever gone down through the pop up, lots of guys do it this way and I was only doing it this way because its what harbor freight asked me to do.

You need to kink the tip of that cable..... the knob on the tip needs to be bent over to a 45 degree angle to make the corners
@PlumbingExplained
@PlumbingExplained 5 жыл бұрын
That definitely helps bro good advice!
@gregsimpson621
@gregsimpson621 5 жыл бұрын
I would NOT kink the end. It's a 1/4" cable and that will weaken the cable. I left my straight and it went through 5 to 6 bends in just 7 feet.
@PlumbingExplained
@PlumbingExplained 5 жыл бұрын
Greg Simpson not all drains are plumbed perfectly some times guys put fittings backwards or just fittings that should not be used in certain areas and sometimes you have no choice believe me I been doing this a very long time and if you put a slight bend on the tip just to curve the cable so it can make certain bends or drop down an area otherwise it would have just run right across. Luckily sounds like your drain was plumbed properly but I would say maybe 30-40 percent of the time they are not

The cables are definitely trash that’s why I recommend putting a different brand cable in, the inside of the machine isn’t built to last it’s basically a throw away, once a year buy a new one. It’s cheap enough

@@PlumbingExplained I'm just saying if we are open for comment (State Plumber Illinois here 🤫) I stopped turd rodding almost 10 ago, it's all high-rise lay-out now. I'm just saying in any "instructional vid" you may have the inexperienced watching this, rodding a brass trap punching a hole thru it, and taking like forever to hit the compacted area like you did because of too many direction changes of that rod that's all friend. I'm a union shop owner that still works for himself. Nice tool thanks
