I think they’re the Yeezy of skates in regards to an outlandish design and catch words for tech but yeah… as someone who played in the 90s to early 2000s upto 2012ish like I saw so so so much innovation from the position I love and many companies doing all sorts to make the gear better but it seems Bauer coming in and having that simple strapping simple set up compared to years past is brilliant I remember taking 40 minutes to get ready with the 12 straps on each of my Vaughn legacy’s or Brian’s hahah but then strapping systems now are just doing so so much beyond what could be imagined haha it’s awesome to see innovation but when the end product Looks like a rink boot with the flex or not I can’t see the justification of the company charging crazy dollars considering the actual boot itself looking like it’s composed of plastics over the custom options out there?! I mean I myself have ccm skates that I got from goalie monkey for like 85% off retail was a no brainer haha 😂

The key is to not assume you can pluck one off the shelf and have it feel good. The process matters in terms of proper fit. What that means is (and maybe this is part of the point), it relies on local retailers to do some work rather than just point and click purchases.

I’ve had my konekt’s for about two weeks now and I love them. The fit and feel is amazing. I love the hinge it allows me to get a lot lower in my stance. Plus my hips and knees don’t feel like they are going to explode in the rvh like they did in my old skate. Anyway hands down the best skate’s I’ve ever put on my feet. Also love the videos and can’t wait to see you back on the ice.

Nice analysis, personally Bauer skates have never fit my feet (which are a bit wider in some parts) so I have been using CCM super taks skates for about 5 years now. I think the technology being introduced on these skates is certainly going to be very interesting, especially if it carries over to other brands.

I am a beer league goalie, started in my 30’s and love it. I’ve never used anything but entry level goal skates…started with Bauer Supreme One60…switched up to S27’s…finally GSX’s. I’m finally deciding to put some money on my feet. I’m not prepared to go full custom, but if you had the choice between a pair of Ultrasonics at a good price or a pair of Konekt skates at full pop…what are you taking and why?

My only experience with modern sticks are I bought 3x Premier 2.5’s cause hockey shop had them on sale for $60 at one point during Covid. I’m on the last one now. They were fairly reliable, never really broke but just got cracked and damaged to the point I just smashed them without feeling bad. I’d say the 2 lasted 50+ ice times each. I picked up a used 3S for $100 and I really like it, seems like it will be very durable. My next stick purchase will probably be a 3X or a M2 Pro E.

I've been rocking some off the shelf Graf's for 10 years, and I'm going to get these when they drop. I play beer league, and the thought of getting dressed in 2 minutes is enough to make these a yes for me. I emailed Bauer asking when they dropped last month, and they told me July 29th. Can't wait.

I recently got some True pro stock return skates and they are great. I don't see myself going Konekt but I did like the stance of my Bauers and may go back and try Bauer custom skates. Anxious to see your video after you get your Konekts and do some comparison.

Nice video. I have CCM Jetspeeds and they hurt the outside of my feet while walking around, but once I start skating, the pain goes away and the skate feels good. I think the Konekt is a good skate design, as Lange did something similar in the 1980s except you laced up the boot. I had Rollerblades like this and they provided good ankle support in an inexpensive boot. Now that I think about it, the profit margin on this is probably really good as there is no carbon fiber/composites in the boot unlike the Supreme and Vapor skates.

You you’re not born in the 70’s went Micron and Lange arrive with the plastic skate. It was all new replacing the leather boot. We had to get used to it there was a skate with Velcro that Gary Unger of the St.-Louis Blues wear. But today all the skates are made off a form of plastic.

Have you got any more info about the moulding process for these? The fit strap you mentioned for example? I think I read that they're moulded twice (liner once, boot shell once) like some ski boots but I'm not sure how it's meant to work!

Hey Trav, I'm hoping to get some Konext skates as well. They're marketed to go to my Size (Only retail Goal Skate in my Size) so I'd like to check them out before forking over nearly 1.5k for Customs. Been reading some good things about it, some bad things like you've mentioned here. But the Boot design is supposed to be incredible. The bindings are weird and I'm gonna get some shotty looks at the rink but it might be worth it.

I get that same out side of foot pain from standing in my s190s no clue what causes that but seems like it’s not just custom. I’m curious if the roller blade looking boot will provide anymore protection, every once in a while a catch a weird puck off the inside of my toe and it’s not pleasing

Last month was lucky enough to talk to Charlie Lindgren who came from the true 1 piece skates and he said he loved them didn’t have long to get more but was at the Bauer store this past weekend and was told that after it gets het molded to your foot it will feel like a custom skate . And they won’t be out retail till august

The skate is lightweight, the flexibility is awesome, the rapid put on and take off is good, you actually do shuffle and push better, but none of that matters if you play with constant pain all game on your soles, I gave them a good shot, used them for 6 games, baked them perfectly, but no matter what I did the pain during the game that gradually got worse was unbearable, by the end of the game, coming from True TF9's that are as comfortable as clouds this was terrible, I really wanted to like them, I really wanted them to work out, but the pain was just too much, Bauer has a lot of work to do to fix that, I have no idea why the soles feel the way they feel on this skate, it was just too much pain, I changed the sole inserts too 3 different times and no change, so unfortunately I had to return them, maybe they can review that experience and adjust then I can try again in the future with a different model.

Right now I am planning on get the Knoekt when they come out, but it depends on how they fit. I have had issue with the way Bauer has fit in the past. One point that I have heard a few times with them that you didn't mention is they make it easier to dial in your tightness and always get the same tightness every time. Where with laces it can get it close most of the time. I alway hate when I get on the ice and can tell that 1 skate is tighter than the other. PS: i'm a mid level beer league goalie that skates about 3 times a week

Was a bauer skate guy for a long time. Had the older Supreme 9000 back then . Even had a pair of Manny Fernandez skates. But I went to Graf three years ago and loved them. Bo durability issues what so ever. Only issue is no one in my state sells them any more. I would love to get my hands on there cowl less skate.

Bauer Customer Skate program for goalies predates the Ultrasonics like you state in this video. It's been available since the 2s Pro. I know because I have them.

The store near me just opened and they have the Konekts in a full range of sizes for sale. Trav they are so fucking comfortable it doesnt seem possible. They feel like pillows on my feet. Takes literally 3 seconds to put them on and get the exact tightness i want eah time. The only down fall for me right now is they are $899 retail.

Bauer hands down is going to provide you the best skate. No doubt in my mind. With the Kinect skate they are fully focusing on comfort and performance. So, besides the look, I don’t think that this boot will have very many issues.

Indeed they look cheap and quite ugly at first glance but the way they're supposed to mold to your foot is actually quite interesting. I'd be curious to try a pair but I still love my One Piece, even after 2+ years. I still give Bauer credits for making great gear tought, I'm just not sure to trust their durability yet.
