It’s weird to walk in ski boots. They’re completely rigid and don’t flex. Now compare that to skates that “feel like wearing a pair of tennis shoes. The racket binding straps aren’t the highlight here lol.

The hinge goes back a long way. I'm 55, I used Lange skates in pee wee in the 70s. Someone else mentioned Microns, I also used them back in minor hockey. All molded skates with liners. They were pretty good as I recall. I've been using "normal" skates for many years now. Interesting to see the updated version with, as someone mentioned, a roller blade style way of securing them on your feet.

I haven't purchased ice hockey skates in many years. But my favorite were CCM that had Reebok air pumps built into the skate tongue and ankles. I didn't have to worry about tightening my skate laces too tight. With the Reebok pump, it made it quick /easy to tighten the skates during games (wish I had them years ago when I was a kid, when my skates got loose and I didn't time to tighten properly on the bench, it had a impact on my skating / playing ability.

I would imagine it will help with lowering the stress on the ankles and knees….maybe even the hips in the long run? It’s time that the gear catch up to help with goalies being able to stay in the game longer as they age. Good vid KVG, interesting to see how they hold up through the years/s.

I’ve never used anything but entry level goal skates…started with Bauer Supreme One60…switched up to S27’s…finally GSX’s. I’m finally deciding to put some money on my feet. I’m not prepared to go full custom, but if you had the choice between a pair of Ultrasonics at a good price Bauer Pro or a pair of Konekt skates at full pop…what are you taking and why?

The hot molding technique has been used on in line skates for years. For athletes, a complete mold of the foot is made, and the boot is constructed per foot as we know our feet are not exactly the same. I used to do in line marathons, and I have a pair of those molded to my feet skates. I don't think the ice skates require that technique. The lacing is still best for comfort. I maybe wrong, we will see as the time goes by.

I wished that they existed in my time (pre 2015). It was a huge pain with those darn laces. Same thing with those current almost strapless leg pads! I remember that it was almost "obligatory" in 90's for a leg pad to having 11 straps! Some teammates even got furious at me when I didn't used those 2 first upper straps, because I saw Hasek doing it. None pro goalies today had survived with those terrible equipments of 90's, wooden goalie sticks weighted like 10x more than composite goalie sticks!
