I tried the Ultrasonics at my local hockey store and the staff that was helping me noticed that my feet were pronating a bit in them. He mentioned I would require developing a bit more ankle strength because of the boot. The way it’s constructed up the ankle is shorter than your vapor skate. I did notice the pronating when I would step. I’ve been skating for a few years now and I would say that skating is my stronger asset on the ice which I developed the quickest. But I have been skating in Mako M7’s these paste years, which is a softer boot and a taller one than the ultrasonics which would make sense that I would have less ankle strength to support me in the Ultrasonics. Which is unfortunate because they had a great fit, (the Fit1), and better one at that, for my narrow foot than the True TF9s (which were my first choice). I was disappointed in the TF9s fit. They seemed to be wider and have a bit more volume specially in the toe box. They were comfortable, but I was expecting a more Mako wrap around the foot feel out of the box and it wasn’t the case :( Did you get to try/skate in the Ultrasonics? Did you guys have any pronating issues?
@matt11b77
@matt11b77 2 жыл бұрын
I just got a pair of 3S and have the same issue. I have analyzed the crap out of them and the boot is about a cm shorter than the 2016 Supremes (what I use now), and the boot cut profile is different and I absolutely hate it.

My 16 year old just upgraded from 14 month old well worn Bauer 2S Pro’s to the 3S Pro. One skate in and he is impressed, says the 3S Pro’s feel stiffer and lighter than the old. Using same Bladetech DLC steel that were on his old skates as the size of the blade holder did not change. Thanks Chris, great stuff!

I recently tried on the 3s and the left skate felt perfect but the right not as good. My right foot pronates so would another skate provide a better fit? Given that a pro level skate would be stiffer would that mean a better solution for pronation?

I bought myself a pair of 3s pro and felt the same way. I've never noticed a difference between my feet before. But now for some reason my right foot wasn't as comfortable as my left one. The Ultrasonics feels almost the same but even more narrow toe cap and it feels like the toecap is not straight on any of them. I've had my One.8s for almost 10 years and they were pretty beat up and the runners did not have much steel left, that's the reason I bought a new pair now. The 3s is a really good skate, even though the bender in this video calls it a lower end one.

I have some 3S skates and really like them. When I was trying them on I tried a wide variety. The Bauer skates that I tried on felt much higher quality (especially the Supremes) than any of the other skates I tried on. I pulled a pair of 76Ks out of their box and was immediately like nope because they felt way lower quality even tho there is only a $30 price difference. All the CCM skates felt lower quality IMO.

Same here. So I am looking for replacement. I am looking at True Custom, but am concerned with their quality and durability. It seems that people love the fit, but they don’t hold up to heavy use and need to be replaced annually. At that price, it’s hard to justify. Chris should do a durability comparison between skates he has used

Hi Chris, nice explanations! But for there are 2 questions searching for an answer: 1. How are the lacing systems/eyelets? Is there anything left over from the self blocking eyelets of the 2S Pro? 2. How do the 2018's/2019's flagship skates (2S Pro) compare? Between 3S Pro and Ultrasonic?
@HockeyTutorialOfficial
@HockeyTutorialOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Regular eyelets in these skates (thank god). Tough question. 3S Pro has features not present on the 2S Pro. 3S Pro has a better eyelet system, better tendon, better toecap. tongue on the 2S Pro is better tho.. I'd personally go with the 3S Pro over the 2S Pro.

@@HockeyTutorialOfficial Hi Chris, thanks for the quick response! 😷🤗👍 So the eyelets of the 2S Pro couldn't shop up as well the marketing suggested? What's the disadvantage? (Lacewear? @@u.e.u.e. I currently have 3s pros (have had them only for about two and a half weeks. And haven’t gotten much ice time in them, but I can tell you, (I use waxed laces) and the lacing is fine, not messy, and the traditional eyelet system now on the 3S pros allows for a better warp around your foot, which feels great.

@@u.e.u.e. no problem 😃 Yea it’s rough not having the ice time available. I’m in Vancouver BC, Canada and we were without ice for about five months I believe. The same story here. It hardly ever gets cold enough here in my area for lakes to freeze over either. I wish we were blessed here often with those experiences. now though, there are a few facilities that have re-opened their stick and puck programs, they have changed their schedules and ice times, but I’m greatful none the less that it’s available. Yea, hoping for better circumstances and less restrictions soon, God willing. Hang in there 👍🏼

Do the three runners, LS+, LS Pulse and LS Pulse Titanium, come as quad? Or do they come with a different profile out of the box?
@niklasdr
@niklasdr 3 жыл бұрын
"Tuuk LS Pulse Premium steel is provided with a high-gloss polished polish to allow superior gliding at increased speed, and its height has been increased to create a better attack angle. This new iron is also equipped with Bauer's Power Profile, which helps the player maintain his speed and take a more powerful step." (from sticksonline.se)
@niklasdr
@niklasdr 3 жыл бұрын
"Bauer's Power Profile is a 4 Zoned Radii, known as a Quad profile. The blade shape is designed with 4 zones uniquely placed and designed for specific performance improvements during all types of edge work. The first zone, located near the toe of the runner, is shaped to maximize acceleration." (26 Jun 2020, Bauer's New Power Quad Skate Profile | Sports Etc.www.sportsetc.net › Latest News) So, at least the LS Pulse seems to come with a Quad profile out of the box.
@niklasdr
@niklasdr 3 жыл бұрын
For the LS Pulse Ti, is stated "Profile 10 Ft" and "Balance Point Center" (@ sticksonline.se). Also, "This blade is also equipped with a friendly 10’ radius so that a profile can easily be added without the need to remove much steel." is stated (@ sv.bauer.com/en-US/). Thus the Ti comes more rough out of the box and needs to be added the desired profile before use.
@niklasdr
@niklasdr 3 жыл бұрын
"The skate features a high grade LS+ stainless steel blade equipped with increased height AND Bauer's Power Profile*, which helps the player maintain speed and a more aggressive stride." (www.bauer.com/en-US/) LS+ seems to have the same Bauer Power Profile, equaling a Quad profile, out of the box.

When will we see unibody from Bauer or fit system from CCM? 🤔 And suppose one is an amateur but he can spend cash for the highest model. Does it make sense to buy it (with all those pro features) or will these kind of skates be too stiff for recreational use? Ohh, and maybe you could also make a comparison video between novice/cheap skates and those in the mid range?
@JNunez7
@JNunez7 3 жыл бұрын
Unibody will probably be another 2-3 years considering their newest skates in the vapor line is still a two piece, but with some new tech in the outsole that is supposed to flex with your foot on turns and what not. That should be coming out this year around summer time, unless it gets pushed back because of Covid CCM’s new fit system is getting introduced this year with and whenever the JetSpeed Ft4 skates come out. If you’re just learning to skate I don’t believe it makes sense to buy the top end skates, specially if it’s just for recreational use. When one is just starting out it’s best to start out with a skate with a softer boot. Maybe even a midrange skate. I started out skating in a midrange skate. I paid $500 and some dollars for them, but I actually believed they were discounted at the time. Developing your skating first will allow you to take advantage of the features in the high end skates.

@@sercheese hey no problem 😃👍🏼 also this is something I actually just read on Instagram post (a picture of the vapor prototypes) coming this year. They were talking about how it was clear in the picture that they were not a one piece. They mentioned Bauer should have by now made a one piece skate because they had bought out Easton company, which I believe made the first one piece skate ever the Mako skates. A guy (works at a hockey shop) then commented the following. “Yes, with the way patents work I was told when I started at our shop 3 years ago Bauer can never retail a one piece boot without making it their own technology. So CCM and True will probably be the only one piece boots.”
