Saw bauhaus twice in one week at the Lyceum London in 1982. I was 19. (I'm 57 now!) Wrote to Peter shortly afterwards and he replied with full letter, photos etc. Nice guy who made the effort

I don’t remember the blood moon but there was an eclipse that night when Morrissey played. Bauhaus definitely was the highlight for me! I’ll never forget this epic performance. It brought me to tears.

Like the music of Bauhaus, which is both atmospheric and, as the lady points out, spherical. Not a plane on the surface of this band, boy. No tangent line parallel to another tangent line on Bauhaus. Must be why I like 'em so much.

I remember, as a teenager, my cousin gave me a Bauhaus t-shirt which i wore with absolute pride.. for a month.. before actually hearing the band!! Became a permanent fan from then on!! Understand, i was poor.. so my only exposure was nicking music off alternative radio stations... which didnt exist in S.Africa in the late 80s

I was there both nights and it was even better in person. What you don't see are the big screens they had, which had black and white video of the band which made them even more spooky looking with the lighting. It was amazing. Especially the second night with the lunar eclipse happening. It was a peak goth moment.

I can almost hear Murphy explaining to his doctor; well, Doc, I disappear from the stage toward the end of "In The Flat Field," to prepare for the intro to "Bela…", you know I have to hang inverted for about 11 minutes. Doc: wait! What?! Why? Murphy: "Dude, vampire's gotta vamp." Doc: "sure, but what is that doing to your brain with your heart pumping all that blood uphill to your feet and all?" Murphy: "You're talking as if I'm 190 years old, Doc, I'm still a young man, just turned 127 in October." Doc just stares at Murphy as he rises from the exam table, buttoning his vest. "Okay then…"

John Peel's show was on the radio, and as I prepared to switch off the ignition, he put on "Nerves" from "In the Flat Field". I didn't move until the last note of that song faded away. Transfixed. I was here - first time I'd ever seen Bauhaus. In all honesty, next to Morrissey - they stole the festival. They were so tight. Felt bad for Peter Murphy falling down during 'Ziggy Stardust' tripping on the stage, but got up quick and rocked it.

The first proper Goth single in my view (although other bands had gone down the dark path previously)....I had the 12" single 40 years ago.....Alas, I had to sell it and all my other LP's, 12" and 7" vinyl (lots of it including Bauhaus) during a severe bit of UK unemployment 9 years ago.....Saying that, I've got cd's and downloads of most of it now...

Yep, I remember when vinyl went out of fashion and I had a pretty comprehensive Bauhaus collection; picture discs, demo discs and the works and sold the lot. I do still have a two volume DVD set of their best stuff that came in a collector's box. Still gets a listen while driving.
