Jake really knows his stuff. Love his insight and he’s always readily available on the forums as well. Great guy and great mechanic, definitely purchasing his products soon.

I've been waiting for Jake to make a down pipe for the Mk7 R. (If I lived closer I'd leave my car with him to design it.) I'd be interested in a cat-back if I could keep the valves in place (or the equivalent thereof) so I can keep it sounding mild while I drive through the neighborhood. As always, thank you for the great content.

Very cool video as always Scott. Jake certainly knows his craft. Really enjoyed watching your interaction- you’re certainly far more comfortable in front of the camera these days. Great to see you smiling and laughter- very infectious Any thoughts on matte black on the FMIC to make it super stealthy?
@StealthGTI3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Clint! Yes, my comfort is improving. I shot my "5-year" video today and didn't make near as many mistakes as usual. HAHA! As for laughing and smiling, it's quite natural for me when I'm interacting with people... cameras, not so much. ;-) Today's recording probably didn't have a single smile.... all business, I guess. I honestly didn't know how an "interview-style" video would go for me since I didn't figure I'd be good at it. I guess the key was that this video turned out to be two guys shooting the breeze about car stuff instead of a couple of introverts trying to talk to a lens. ;-) As for the black FMIC, Jake does not endorse coating the FMIC with anything because it affects heat transfer. He had said that during our recordings, but that scene was one of many that hit the cutting room floor. Take care!

Love your videos. Informative and give a different view point. Curious to know what didn't you like about her B14 set up coilovers? How does she like it compare to before?

Thanks for the note! I cannot call it a "dislike." Instead, it's more of an "I don't prefer." The ride isn't bad; it just sat a little lower than I want, even at their highest setting. Oddly enough, my car has settled about 3/4" from when it was new. Ironically, that's exactly where I like it; so, I don't need a upgrade. HAHA!

@@StealthGTI being older myself ibdo prefer a nice ride ... but much like your daughter I went with coilovers and will be putting them on. Hopefully won't regret it... or should I say dislike it. I am however pleased with your is38 review. Just have to decide if it's something I should do sooner than later.

Scott, did your daughter ever get a tune on her 1.8T Golf? I'm considering a tune for my wife's Alltrack and it also has the 1.8T. Trying to decide which tune I will use and thought you might have some feedback on ther tune your daughter was going to have installed on her Golf.
@StealthGTI2 жыл бұрын
She did. She followed my path and went with APR, an "off-the-shelf tune" that's safe, error-free, and doesn't overload anything. I need to create a video about her car. She'll be home for two weeks soon. That may be a good time to hijack her car and do some shooting. OH - if you're wondering, we did not bother with a downpipe for two reasons: 1) It doesn't yield much improvement, especially for the cost; and 2) It makes the car sound like a kid's fart-can. ;-) She's currently running her car with my old Baun axle-back, which is essentially a "muffler-delete" with good results. No additional power, but it sounds fairly good. I'll be sure to cover that in my video. Take Care!

@@StealthGTI I'm leaning towards the APR tunes for the ECU and TCU as well. I have to drive a couple hours to get to a APR dealer, so I may just drive an hour further and go to Opelika AL and have APR do it at the mothership. I really like how quiet the Alltrack exhaust is so I don't think I'm going to mess with it, and don't have any plan to install a downpipe or go beyond stage 1. Thanks again for your reply and information.
