don't cut the bread dumpling! Ripping it in half is much better, because the sauce can be better absorbed. Cutting it makes it "spindig" (to dense)

@@cooking-the-world it is the same effect like you have, when you cut a "Serviettenknödel", therefore you take a piece of garn to cut it. Try and see, everybodies tastes are different, so just a tipp.

Everyone should visit Bavaria at list one time in his/her life. The well preserved old cities and towns, fresh villages, the baroque churches, the nature, the ever green forests, the culture, the Bavarian accent, and of course the food. Everywhere is almost spotless, you feel calm, assured, safe, emotionally and physically well nourished.

Maybe you can help me. My Mom made Sour Sweet Greenbeans, maybe my favorite meal. Our ancestors were Bavarian and it was supposed to come from them, but I have never heard of anyone eating this recipe but us. It is 5lbs green beans, 2lbs pork (she used rib tips, I use less fatty pieces), 4 lg Potatoes (peeled and quartered), 1 small White Onion (diced, but optional), 2cups Apple Cider Vinegar, 2 cups Sugar, Salt to taste. In large pot on the stove, add green beans, onion, potato and pork. Cover with water and boil until veggies are tender. Add Vinegar and Sugar and simmer for at least 1 hour. Once the flavors marry, this tastes better and better. I often add additional cooked green beans to the 'sauce' over the next week, to extend eating this dish. Microwaves great! Have you ever eaten or seen this?

@@cooking-the-world ahh, I see! I am glad to meet a Hessian. I would like to learn a lot about hessian people, their culture and dialect. (you DO sound very different from the other germans I've heard speaking English!) My grandmother's family was from the Dietzholztal. a good distance from Frankfurt, but to an American, it doesn't seem very far. :) Nice to meet you!

Hi thank you for sharing this video. I just would like to know if you met or saw some foreigners there? Like Indians ? Or people from countries out of Europe? Thank you

As a Bavarian I can say it depends where you go but you probably encounter more tourists on the lakes and in the cities than on the mountain for example Tegernsee, Chiemsee or Munich.

My Grandfather said the food sucked. Well, it was 1945 and everything was cooked with gasoline. He was a Sargent with 2 Bachelor degrees from Texas Tech.

@@kaddy0306 : Don’t forget that the reason there is piece and freedom in Germany today was because of the men who had to eat garbage tasting food all the while being shot at and some killed all so we can enjoy the native cuisines being offered there today. I’m sure the food is uniquely wonderful but never forget who sacrificed for such enjoyments.

They missed the best Restaurant in Berchtesgaden, the " Hochlenzer" at the Obersalzberg, but it's a real bavarian Restaurant not a " want be" like the others.

Oh actually we didn't go there on purpose. They didn't have a menu on the website and the last photos online just showed some standard German dishes that we can eat in Frankfurt (Schnitzel, Semmelknödel, Apfelstrudel). They had some Austrian food though, but that wasn't the topic of the video. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying they don't serve any Bavarian food, it's probably very good German restaurant, but if I am not 100% sure if I find Bavarian food I rather go and film somewhere else. We had 4 days to make this video, so I hope you see our point.

I think she is german, the accent is very german to me. She sounds as if she lives in the Frankfurt area. I have been there - in Berchtesgaden/Schonau many times- and also in Frankfurt. All in all the video was interesting.

Sounds slightly eastern european to me tbh. Not only the accent when speaking English, but also when speaking German. Could be absoutely wrong though!
