Thanks for putting all these together. This one really hits a soft spot for me as I always thought these club meetups looked incredible in photos. To see it in motion is Epic!

My father-in-law was a Hot Rodder back then. He and three others started up The Toronto Modified Kar Klub. One of many club in the area. One of his buddies. Jack look made the trip from Toronto to California in his 32 roadster back then. We have a small bit of 8mm film from them racing. But nothing like what you have here. Thanks for preserving these.

P.S. That channeled, yellow roadster p.u. is killer!!! That took some major work to achieve, and it is perfectly proportioned!

Priceless footage from Andy Southard, a well known photographer for these cars. I wonder if most of these cars have survived today, perhaps updated to today's times??? Anyway, its good to see Flattop Bobs 32 in excellent condition today

Is that a Studebaker V8 in that orange roadster at 10:10? If so it is one of very few. Also, channeled roadsters were rare on the west coast, more common in the east.

My dad was into vintage cars (mostly Ford and Studebaker) and went to Cal-Poly in the Late 1950s. He was more into the "Purist" Restorations than Hot Rods. I don't know the Timeline between when he purchased his first "Vintage" car and my parents getting married.

About 75% of the cars they showed in the mags of the day were set-up in car shows. It would lead one to believe these were trailer queens that didn't run, for show only. Here is proof that that was wrong, and they were a total blast to drive...the forerunner of the cruise-in. Thanks for finding these films, so we all know....
